Stainless steel or alloy look pedals installed - photos

:
2014 Mazda5 GT - 6 MT - White
I wanted part CC29-V8-220A from the dealer (google them if you want).
Dealer msrp is $187.95 or $211.95 installed + 13% tax (Canada)

I ordered from Ebay.
Approx. $20 dollars including shipping and taxes.
Did not fit properly.
I made them fit.

OEM is wider as you can see in the next photo.
Ebay item is narrower.

The final result looks good, if I may say so myself, especially for $20.
But I had to use some elbow grease to make them fit.

This is my purchase number 99 from ebay, and it was the first time the item did not fit right from the box. Now, to be honest, I took the risk knowingly. The item in ebay says clearly "08-11" so I am assuming that 2012 + Mazda5's have wider pedals.

In another thread I asked the question "are the pedals the same size and shape for the current generation (2012 +) and the previous generation??" but no one answered. I guess now we know that the answer is no, the pedals are not the same size or shape. The newer cars have wider pedals.

These pedals came in a box that is labelled Ford and Mazda and tons of chinese letters.

The red line on the photo shows some of the modifications I did in order to make them fit: I removed the rubber on the sides.

So, here is my solution to the stainless-look pedals...

Saving some money for a different, better solution, but for now, this one will have to do...

Just FYI: This is the box.

It shipped from China.
It indicates part number FB3M-5K-4P-4B.
It says Ford, Mazda, Genuine Service Parts.
The rubber has the Ford logo inside.
The OEM parts are in the photo.

On a different topic ---> See the OEM rubber pad for the brake pedal, it has a weird "flap" that kind of wraps around. Weird.

That flap is a countermeasure to keep owners from getting their foot trapped behind the b-pedal, when moving their foot from the a-pedal to the b-pedal.

Seriously.

We've implemented the same thing on several Toyota models b/c stupid people do that, then blame us (either in court, or to NHTSA).

I don't know why but the factory gas pedal is so small in size that I occasionally miss the pedal when I go to accelerate. Also, the gas pedal is placed deeper into the footwell than I'm used to from my past Subaru vehicles and it causes my shoe to clip the brake pedal when I change over from gas to brake (exactly what sac02 indicated. yes, I'm one of them "special" folks you mentioned). ;) Not only is having my shoe catch the side of the brake pedal annoying, it freaks me out especially when I have to suddenly hit the brake pedal. I drive by places that ghetto people tend to cross the street behind parked cars so it may be specific to my needs. I looked under there to see if the pedals had adjustment switches but found nothing.

The first modification I made on my 09 M5 was to buy a pedal cover for the gas pedal. With a wider gas pedal from one of those tuner sets (did not install the brake pedal cover), my driving confidence has gone back up.
