SS AFC V.2 help

Not sure. I got some kinda no name USB/serial cable. Try switching com ports again. But yea I switched mine to com2 also. Wouldn't hurt to try. I hate when I get something and it just doesn't work so I know the feeling. Hope u get it figured out. Try updating the drivers for the cable and let windows find the drivers for you through the Internet.

yeah so i decided to go out and buy a new db9/usb cable from radioshack ...download the driver for the cable and still have no connection to the ss afc...ken said that if there was no power to the ss afc...then my car wouldn't even turn on...i drove it to work today...and everything ...so now i am frustrated...i basically connect the cable to my laptop (XP) and then to the ss afc.... open up the r4 software ...i already downloaded the stock supermap.. i open that map...then i click (write to ecu) under COM 2...(that is what COM i chose for the db9/usb cable...and i get an error in the R4 software "error connecting to the ecu check connection and power to ecu" i did like 20 times already....ne help????????

I can't think of anything else except maybe trying another laptop. Also to make sure windows is completely booted up before u connect the ssafc.

the last owner just told me that he ended up sodering the negative cable to the 02 sensor....blah blah blah....wtf is wrong with my ss afc

try using a different usb port.

i am sure mark can fix the unit. they don't usually charge for that either.

he said it would cost $35 to diagnose the problem ...so i am going to pull the unit a lil later today...run on the stock ecu and then eagerly wait for it to come back....thanks ken for your help

I'll let you know if mine works.. still waiting on the EGR to get here that I bought.. when it gets here I'll be able to put my piping and everything back on and start tuning.. if it connects to the AFC.
