Are you mad that an SRT-4 (or mp3 turbo) can beat our MSP?
Personally, I don't have the Speed yet anyhow.
But, I have the same attitude when looking at buying the speed as I did when I went for the mp3.
Yes, there's faster cars. There will always be. But, when I found the mp3, and now the speed, I never once started comparing 1/4 mile times. It wasn't even a concern. I love the looks, the stereo, wheels, fogs, price, interior even before seeing it in person. And once I drove it.....SOLD. I don't care about 1/4 miles, I don't even really care about slalom speeds, and such numbers are really only for bragging rights, and "who's got the bigger dick" contests. I don't street race, I don't show off, I drive a nice car because I want to, because I'm a car guy, and I like nice cars. I don't drive cars to impress friends or strangers I don't care about. Nor do I even care about the brainless chick who gets all excited about seeing a nice car. I don't spend 30 grand to impress anyone, it's not worth it.
I came from 200hp Preludes, and V6 accords. not super performance machines by any means, but, they are quicker then the mp3 would ever be, and I knew this since day one but I didn't care.
The Mazda's just offered me a handling experience more like the vettes, and high end bmw's I've driven, all for a price that was cheaper then other cars I've gotten. The overall fit and finish wasn't quite up to the preludes, ( I'm being really picky here ) and accords, but if was fine for me considering the money I was saving. I wanted something fun to drive, easy to live with on a day to day basis, easy on insurance, and gas. And that's what I got.
the Neon, while I haven't driven it yet, but I will once they arrive. It just seems like a really rough and loud car. I'm only baseing this on what I read, and what friends have told from test driving them themselves. The Neon seems more of a weekend car. Go out on a Sat. night, play with some civics, laugh away, and park it afterwards.
If it's as rough, and loud as people are telling me, it's just not something I want to be in everyday.
The Mazda is a performance Protege. It's still a protege. Fun to drive, and has the highest grin factor for the $$$ I've seen. But it's something I can drive 7 days a week, be comfortable in all day/night, and keep for 4-5 years without worry of getting sick of it, or it driving me nuts ( assuming we get the clunk fixed

)
The Neon is not.
