Mazdaspeed 3 2007
My speed3 is my first turbo car. I know about the on going battle of SRI vs CAI. I have talked with a few people about switching to a CAI cause I currently have SRI. What kinda of gains would I see between the two. I would like to buy the mazdaspeed CAI but want to know if it would be worth my time and money. Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Thanks, but that is stock vs MS CAI. I was wondering about a short ram intake compared to the MS CAI.

I bought it from a place here in colorado called street concepts. It was for a mazdaspeed6 but it works on both cars. I was thinkging about selling it to get the cold air though.

finally found someone who's using the sri on his speed3...
did you install the sri yourself? how hard/easy is the installation? how's the change it brings to the sound of turbo/bov? did you notice any difference in terms of performance?
i'm also hesitating between sri and cai,but due to the concern of hydrolock(where i'm living is quite snowy/rainy)and the complexity of installation(don't wanna remove the bumper or the wheel every time before i go to the dealer),my mind leans to the sri
i learned that cai makes a bit more horse(cold air's denser) but it's hardly noticeable

Same here. OK I did install myself, took maybe 20min. Super easy. As for sound you can actually here that you have a turbo and bov. Performance :) There was a much much better throttle response than the factory stock air box. Butt dyno was very pleased, same said from my friend who has a moded speed6. I live in colorado so I see lots of snow and some rain aslo. I have had no problems yet. For the CAI concern with the dealer if you buy the Mazdaspeed cai I believe you wont have to worry cause it wont void any warrenty with the dealer. I am thinking about buying the mazdaspeed CAI mainly cause of Heat soak that may accure with the sri and getting rid of the sri.

thanx for the info jake!

unfortunately i'm in canada, that being said, even a mazdaspeed cai installed by the dealer will VOID the warranty as it carries an orange warranty(sigh)

so it's more like heatsoak vs hydrolock, but since we have almost 8 months of winter(so much snow) and it's not that hot(<90F mostly)during the summer here in montreal, heatsoak seems less likely to occur than hydrolock

i've also seen someone having problem with their ms cai(MAF calibration?!)and it triggers the CEL,but i reckon this shouldn't be a big issue as far as the warranty still applies

No problem, that does suck about the warranty. Good luck with what ever you choose to do.

I finally got this SRI...the installation was pretty straightforward, but I'm having problem finding a spot to attach the stand that's coming with the intake to support the filter...Jake,how did you fix it?
