sr20det in a p5

Yup I agree. Anything is possible if you have the $$$. Just like one of the Top Secret Supra's running a highly tuned 3SGTE (MR-2 Turbo engine), or Sp Engineering's FD3S with a 2JZGTE (Supra Twin Turbo engine).

i was thinking about how the sr20det is a 2.0l so it wouldnt have too much trouble fitting in the engine compartment. my friend has an old se-r with a n/a sr20 and it looks about the same size as our fs-de

are you guys keeping in mind the silvia engine is for a rear wheel drive car?

Well, perhaps he's meaning an SR20DE with an aftermarket turbo.

You are correct though, in that the SR20DET in its' full glory is a RWD application, but that's mostly because of the turbo and manifold configuration. Eh, details, details....

Just a suggestion if you want an SR20DE: get a Sentra 2.0L (B15 chassis preferable). I was going to get a used G20 before I got the P5. Happy either way.......

Oh yeah, it would be a waste of money. The SR20 is a strong engine, but you can build the FS with less money than it would cost to swap in an SR20.

The 200sx had the sr20 as well and it a front driver.

200sx in North America is what the Silvia (200sx) was/is in Japan (similar chassis to the S13/S14 240SX avail. in North America). The 240SX (KA24DE) never existed in Japan, only in N/A.

The SR20DET in the 200SX in Japan is rear drive.

The SR20DE available in the SE and SE-R trims of the 200SX and B15 Sentra's (1999-2001 - SE trim only) is FWD.

The only other SR20 powered Nissan in N/A was the G20 (which actually introduced the SR20 to the market in 1991). It's known as the Primera in other markets and hase the SR20DET AND SR20VE (with variable intake/exhaust).

But was it mounted transversely?

No. It'd be EXTREMELY difficult to drive the front and rear axle's with a transversely mounted engine (just thing Subuaru's for a simple example).

The BlueBird has it mounted longitudely.

Ehh? The 200SX over here didn't even remotely share a chassis with the 240SX/Silvia/180SX at all... The S13 chassis is the Sylvia's, 180's and the 240's... So the 240 was essentially America's Sivlia... The 200SX was just a Sentra with two doors. =)
