SR Motorsports parts

2003 Mazda Protege5
I recently purchased a cat back exhaust system from SR Motorsports and I love it. It's not too flashy or anything, it looks almost stock. It isn't loud at all and it sounds pretty sporty. I am really happy with how it turned out and I'm thinking about getting the rest of my exhaust system (mid pipe and header) from them as well and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these parts, or any of their other parts for that matter. Any info on these parts would be really helpful. Here is a link: http://www.shaneracing.com/Mazda_Protege_Performance_Exhaust_Parts.html
Thanks for the help

well i am waiting for the main pulley its been on back order for almost 2mo now so thats a pain in the ass. but i did receive the other 2 pulleys and also the adj cam gears. i just got them recently so i havent installed them yet but i heard a few things sbout the cam gears that they arent the greatest but havent talked to anyone who had them and they failed but the quality of the parts look good. well see how everything else works out. i posted a similar thread like this trying to get a idea of their quality and never got a response from anyone so hope you get a better response than i did maybe they can also shine a light on my parts also.

I'll just go with.......pricey. OBX header + custom flex fitted 2.25 Magnaflow catted midpipe + 2.25 mandrel bent stainless catback piping with resonator + Magnaflow Street series 5x8 oval angle tipped axleback muffler = approx 600-650.00. Can't be any less claimed HP increase than the SR.........no rasp, no drone either.

For the price of the header you can do much much better, have a look at the AWR header. In regards to the camgears yeah interfers with the cam pickup if ajusted from stock position.

Now is that for all the gears or just the 2.0 ones i have the 1.6 gears not sre if the problem is there too since they are dofferent gears

No idea. If there based on the same design then theyll be just as flawed I'd imagine unless the ZMs are totally different.

Does anybody know about Racing Mazda's header and test pipe combo? http://racingmazda.com/protege_exhaust.htm

Alergic to google? Its a 626 long pipe header that theyve modified to fit proteges, prolly cheaper to the 626 header and modify yourself if your that way inclined.

yeah they are different from what i hear because they arent compatible with the FS so i hope i dont have any issues

Didnt mean in that way, The problem with the original design is that when you ajust the cam gear you also move the cam pickup causing the computer to misread. If the pickup is still located on the cam gear then itll still be a problem.

The 626/MX-6/Probe 4-2-1 header requires the EGR bung to be moved and a section of pipe to be removed prior to the mid pipe if you want it to bolt in. If you are planning an EGR delete or to use corrugated gas line and a custom exhaust then you won't have any issues.
