Squeeks, rattles, clunks all driving me nuts!

My rear end clunk sound came back recently. The dealer fixed it once already, I would like to pinpoint what exactly is causing the sound so I can fix it myself rather than taking it to the dealer.

sometimes its not the endlinks but the bushing brackets that needs to be retighten. I had a loud clunking when backing out of driveways and i found out that one end of the bushings was not as tight. Once weight was transfered through the car, the bar basically was pushed aways from the frame and once the weight transfered back, it would hit against the frame making the metallic clunk.

Every so often you will probably have to retighten the rear bar bushing and endlinks. To me it seems the more harder driving i do, the sooner it comeback, usually after a few months. I just remove the whole bar and retighten again. Service manual says about 45lbs of torque, but it seems that it needs more, but im scared to over torque lol.

did you resolve the passenger seat? Did you check the seat buckle ... I am not sure what it is called but the mechanism that extends the seat belt up to the edge of the seat squeaks over bumps. Not a big deal. I bet that's it.

My passengers said they were hearing it from under MY seat, so I clued in on the sound bouncing around somehow and making it seem like it was coming from the wrong seat. Last time out when I heard squeeking, I tensed my seat belt (where the coupler goes into the holding-thingy) with my hand and it muffled the squeek, going to a full silence of the sound if I reefed on the seatbelt enough to use effectively as a makeshift girdle. So yeah it seems like its the buckle part somewhere. Gotta isolate it and eliminate it now.

Then when it warms up I'll attack the rear clunk (especially when turning) and the front ticking from the cowl. I also have something happening from the glovebox area now but one at a time I guess.

do you have a motor mount upgrade? If not get one and make your car vibrate more and you won't worry about one or two! (crazy)

09 MS3 with 3500 miles. No squeaks except for a minor tick on the center dash cover just above the radio. That'll be an easy fix once I take apart the dash to install the iPod integration unit.

I do get a mild hollow clunk coming from the rear suspension after the vehicle has been idle for a minute or so. I suspect it's the ARB bushing or an exhaust hanger. I'm going to try an isolate so the dealer can duplicate the issue.

Ours only made squeaking noises from the swaybar pivot bushings in the cold.. silicone spray lube helped. I still need to drop the bars and lube them with energy suspension bushing lube (lasts alot longer). It made some chirping noises from the struts too (last summer)... but it mysteriously went away over the winter. No interior noises. Our car has 34K.

It's very peaceful compared to the other stuff I drive.

I get the passenger seat squeaking, too. I need to get the right measurement system box wrenches to tighten the bolts.

My rear suspension squeaks. It's coming from the rear driver's side, but not the other side.

My rear glass rattles. I've been meaning to stick some shims in there for about a year. I've recently started to get a tiny bit of front glass/cowl rattle.

By the way, I live in a relatively warm climate (never gets below 40* farenheit here.)

I seem to have a clicking sound coming from my gas pedal after I release the clutch and get on the gas. the sound seems to be coming from the dash some where. I's going in tomorrow for the windshield rattle so I'll have them look into that as well.

I just recently discovered a really irritating rattle coming from the spring inside the handbrake button?! (boom08)

I have to touch it in order to make it stop. Anyone have suggestions on how to fix it?

Other than that, I think my ride is pretty quiet compare to my old Protege5!!! :)

I have the same tick from the center of the dash which seems to come and go but otherwise the car is rattle/creak/squeak free at 3K miles.

I owned a VW years ago which was an absolute nightmare, nothing I've owned before or since has rattled like that thing.
