Squealing/squeaking problem?

Well, whenever I start my car (yellow MP3) something in the hood towards the right of the hood (when I'm in the driver's seat) will squeal/squeak. It'll sound like smearing your hand on glass. It'll do it for about 5 seconds and then stop. But sometimes it'll squeak again while I drive. I think this only happens when I don't warm my car long enough or when it's cold? Is there a way to fix this? What should I do? Also, I know basically NOTHING about cars.

its probably you belt that runs you water pump and alternator and all, it happen to me alot and my belt snapped, then i got it fixed and the mechanic tighned the belt to much and it snapped again, its kinda cheap to fix, it might need to be tightend or replaced if thats it but check your belts

Is it normal for it to do it when it's cold and I haven't warmed the car up long enough? Like when it's hot outside it doesn't seem to do it.
