spun bearing 2xxx miles

So what explanation do you have for my transmission to stop going into gear three seperate times with two different attempts to fix it when the car has only been launched hard ONE time, again, any car sold as a performance car should be able to handle abuse.

Why are you bringing your tranny issues into this? They have nothing to do with this thread. And besides the 2-3 and cold weather issues people complain about, I don't know of many serious problems with this tranny. Maybe you're just unfortunate.

And clearly you cannot read, the OP had zero mods on his car, as I did when my engine blew. My car was running stock boost when the motor blew.

I can't remember ever saying the OP had mods. And whether your car was stock or not when it blew doesn't change the fact that at one time you were stressing out the motor. Because it didn't pop right away doesn't mean the damage wasn't done.

My car has been in the shop for a total of 26 days in the past 45 days, it's ridiculous. Mazda SELLS mods themselves, so what are you proving by saying it's peoples fault for modding their car. Clearly Mazda designed this car to be modified, or they wouldn't manufacture aftermarket parts themselves.

Mazda designed the car to be modifed with THEIR products. And the extent of their power mods are an intake and catback afaik. I haven't heard of a mazdaspeed mbc, vta, piggy back, blow off valve, map clamp, downpipe or racepipe. And I haven't read or heard anything to imply they designed this car for people to bolt-on whatever mod they feel like.

Your holyier than though attitude is so infuriating, guranteed you have a completely different attitude in person. You have no idea of the details of situations yet you bash people without any real clear insight into what happened.

You came on here with 1 post, and a new name. I would bet my life you are or were a member of at least one of these forums who posts under a different name. Obviously you had something to hide. You came here with the intent to bash and criticize because you saw the bandwagon. I just like knowing as much as of the WHOLE story as I can and your mods are big part of it.

The op's car was and has always been stock and the engine blew with 2k miles, and on top of that the dealership gave him a hard time. Why exactly should he be greatful.

This is proof right here you didn't even bother to read a word I typed or maybe it just didn't sink in.

Again, car is 100% bone stock and was driven by an old man. The only time I have ever seen him in boost is when he must merge with traffic to get up to the speed limit. Obvious defect on Mazda's part. Most dealership's are dick's because if you accept all the bulls*** they throw at you, then they don't have to pay for the fix, but you might have to.

Most of the posts in this thread seem like they came from 16 year olds. Most have no clue how warranty claims are administrated, and as to everyone flogging their performance cars? Most buyers choose not to.

I know someone who purchased a Ford GT and has never gone full throttle. Not once. He wouldn't dream of it, because he could care less how fast the car is. He likes the way it makes him feel while driving it. Which is exactly why everyone here purchased their vehicles.

Who cares if the guy is happy going the speed limit, or if the guy wants to make it a track day special?

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore

I'm a new member, have been browsing the forum for about a month now in anticipation of a new MS3. I havn't posted because I don't have a MS3 yet so don't really have much to say as far as the forum goes, its just been fun to read. I had to finally post though because I can't get over Beetlegoose or however you say the name. It seems like every post I have seen, you are needlessly arguing with somebody else over their opinion. You constantly feel the need to belittle them and try to change their mind. Why does it bother you so much? Most the the time it is just their OPINION, and even if it was something that they could be "wrong" about, why not just let them think what they want to think. Why do you have to be a d*ck about it?

lol, you mean like how YOU are doing right now? Why does my opinion bother you so much? It's all opinions and every post is directed at someone else (or to the group) including me so I respond. Others choose not to.

yes, that's right, this is my very first post,, why??,, I have the very same problem as described in the first post,, my speed3 blew the engine two weeks ago,, why??,, that's the question everybody keep asking me,, my speed has 1,987 miles in the odo and is bone stock too, date of purchase?? 21 of dec.. 2007, the manager of the shop ask me if the engine took a little drink of water while I was running , and I tell him not,, because that's the only way the engine could bend two rods the #1 and #4,, I was running at 60mph when I hit the brakes a little to reduce the speed because I saw a bump in the highway, then just push a little the gas when this sound came to my ears, boom pssst after that a little knock coming from the engine ,, for me the noise looks like a lifter or tappet what ever you name it, click , click, click, and a big vibration on the pedal clutch with just showing my foot to the pedal,, well to make the story short,, and for your info,, the dealer shop order me a new engine,, the manager told me that the new engine have a new part number ,, when this happen,, the oem part had been redisigned or the manufacturer have change,, lets hope is a redisigned engine

Did you get the new turbo with different part number also?

No,, they only change the short block , they call me today that the speed is ready,, tomorrow I'll go to pick it up and let you now what are my impresions in the new engine well first and again, break in process(bang),,, BTW why you ask did they change the turbo in your dad's car?

No, he is still waiting on the motor. I have no idea what exactly a "new" motor means. Maybe a new motor is just the shortblock, just like in your case. I can see them trying to pull a fast one like that. my dad refused a rebuild and demanded a new engine or he would stop payment on the car. Of course, they complied. I will keep you posted on his situation.

im starting to get worried, my buddy brandon's motor shot a rod through the block due to a bad bearing, now this, and i got 22k on mine w/ no problems, all i can say is i hope mine doesn't blow up

Who the hell is this guy?

I tell you man,, that's the same case scenario with me,, here in PR, I leave my MS3 in the dealer that i bought it but the decitions are made by another person , he is a warranty technician that works for mazda,,, the manager informs the conditions and the problems of the MS3 ,,the manager already know whats the problem with the car but they have to call mazda to ask for an authorization because of the part is too expensive then the technician make some sugestions like diferent tests to the engine,, before they made the decition to replace the short block, they change the cam sprocket that have to do with the timing thing, then they call me that the engine have two bend rods, and the mazda warranty technician told the manager to rebuild the engine ,, of course I told him that I don't want a rebuild engine, I wanted a new one,, then he call me back a couple a hours later and told me that he authorize the new engine

so tell your dad to don't give up,, and keep figthing this bastards until he gets his new engine

with 22k in the odo I wouldn't be worried,, I have two friends with MS3's ,, and not a single problem,, mine come from a bad batch

Who is your buddy Brandon? Has he posted here or elsewhere? I'm trying to keep tabs on just how many incidents of thrown rod / bad bearings there are. As far as worrying, plenty of us have gone into the 20ks and higher with no serious problems.

how did they explain that? How did a bad rod bearing chuck a rod through the block?

Just a guy with an argumentative bent and time enough to indulge it. Occasionally I'm that guy, too, but for Betelgeuse I think it's a major pastime.

He sounds like one of those boners that insists on speeding through subdivisions when there are kids about, claiming that the car was "meant to be driven this way."
