when spring hits...and the funds aren't lacking...i'm looking to do some upgrades...the goal will be a fmic...i was thinking that i might start with an exhaust and/or downpipe to free up the flow there before jumping to the fmic...would that be a good first step or ???? any recommendations...the goal eventually is a fmic...thanx!

i think u shoukld jhust do a sprayer kit with the exhaust
it would be much cheaper, and would also help prevent the heatsoak and if u eventually wnat to get a bigger turbo go all out and get he fmic. just my two cents that would save u a lot more.

All of the threads that I read say that a FMIC should be the first mod; not only does it add power, it looks badass!

Definetly start out with a exhaust. Our exhausts I believe are 2 1/4 which is small for a turbo. I would either upgrade to a 3" or 2.5" which ever you prefer. I would get a 3" though. A fmic is bad ass but you will see minimal gains untill you up the boost or up the turbo.

I think its easier to free up horsepower on the exhaust side of the turbo than on the intake side.

I'd say in this order:

Boost guage
Exhuast
Intake- short ram or CAI depending on preference
FMIC
