Ya, I stay on Crow, so it was past me.

There a few evo8's here in vancouver. Rumor has it the guy from the Mitsu dealer here imported the car with the Lancer shipment and the car was classifed as just a regular Lancer and the insurance company doesn't know about it.

Too bad. So when buddy wrecks his EVO, he'll only get a $8,000 payout for the writeoff LOL!

I talked with the guy who owns the EVO in Calgary, the car was purchased from someone in Winnipeg. What happened was, when Mitsu started selling cars in canada they sent canada customs a list of the cars legal for sale here. On the list it had the lancer, but little did customs know it didnt imply the Evo model. About 10 got into Canada, and the one in Calgary is the only one in Alberta.

Sweet car!

I read that the evo is coming to canada in 06-07 and that you can put yourself on the list to get one right now.

Where and when did you read this? There have been so many inconsistancies since the evo 8 hit the states that i dont know what to beleive anymore. My impression was that there would be no evo in canada until the next platform change, so the evo X. But it is possable that the 4G63 will be gone too~

Actually it probably is real, before they were banned a handful were purchased and imported legally. These handful purchased before the car was banned were honored and allowed to be registered. There is one in winnipeg which I am from and one from Toronto, both which I have personally seen and talked to the owners at an autocross event in Winnipeg.

Here's a link to the album for that day, The pictured Evo is the one from Toronto. I am the grey msp #66.

I've read the same thing...no Canadian EVO until the EVO X. Can't verify it, though. I don't get what the big deal is, when you can already buy the STi for the same money...

I read it in the sun, auto section. I do think that it was the evo x. This was about a month ago. The Sti is not as nice IMOP. Thats where I got that little tidbit.

Myself and several others contacted Mitsubishi about the fact that there were not any Evo8s allowed in Canada as a result of the bumper specs. They returned a response stating that the production on the Evo9 was too far progressed to allow the changes necessary for it to be brought to Canada. However, the EvoX, which production had not yet started for, would be built with the Canadian specs in mind so that they were legal here. They stated that the EvoX would be available only as a 2007 model (perhaps available late 2006?).

If you do a search of the forums you should be able to find the thread detailing the contents of the letter from Mitsubishi Canada.

OMG, that looks so real. But i have not heard anything about an evo comming with an ES wing. Im a HUGE evo fan myself, pretty angry at transport canada.

I know of someone in Winnipeg with an EVO VIII who got it in before the ban went out. Also there are 2 in vancouver that my friends have seen.

Yea it was sold to a person in calgary.

I saw an EVO-9 down in Palm Springs. It was blue. It looked pretty much the same other than the front bumper had the small ovals for cooling the intercooler pipes.

FYI I saw the EVO-8 again last Friday, around 10am, Southbound on Crowchild, turned off at the 53rd street exit. It has the s*** little wing though, I like the optional bigger one better.
