Sport Compact Car, whoz car?

just out of curiosity, does anyone on this board, own or know who owns the blue MP3 that Sport Compact Car used to do their 1/4 mile thing in this months issue?

i believe that is their mp3 project car. They had it a few months back when they went to a racing school in the southwest somewhere. This forum should be burrying SCC in complaints for not having done anything to their mp3. With one of these turbos added to push it past 200hp im sure they would sing a different tune, instead of only using it in articles where they want a cute blue car in the pics....

ive emailed four or five people at scc and never got a responce back. they are a bunch of rice boys anyways. if it says Honda or Acura they love it with out question. all other cars need not apply. (flame2) (nuts)

i have always thought SCC was pretty good about putting working with all sorts of cars in their mag, better than any other car mag, which is the reason they are the only one i subscribe to, IMO.......

I've been subscribing to SCC since the days when it was thin and used cheap paper. In my opinion its the best overall import mag.

They feature the usual supras, honda, acuras...but they also feature old school imports and other not so mainstream cars.

Anyway...Yeah it is frustrating that they havent done much with "project mp3" but what can they do that you havent already seen on this very site? I doubt they would go to the extent spoolin has for his mp3 beast...and best of all this site is 100% free!

I still really like SCC...they must be blind though...we havent been mentioned in the car site section yet. Hello!!!

sorry guys, guess im just a little pissed at them. but i have read there mags since it was thin.

I've sent SCC a few e-mails over the years. Back when they were small, you could at least get a response from them.

Now though, I've sent them a few emails asking about their MP3 and saw nothing.

Personally, I don't like them anymore. They have become so big with advetising and other crap that they don't talk to the readership anymore. Oh well.

That is why I don't have a subscription. I like GRM much more.

Send them US mail and tell them they they're way behind in their mp3 project. They didn't even try simple bolt ons yet!

Add me to the list of people who sent the email.

The argument for me isn't so much that the parts they would put on the car are brand new ones I've never heard of. Nah I'm pretty sure most of the stuff would be things that members here have already tried.

What we'd get with SCC tho(or any other tuner magazine), is the extensive testing, dynoing etc. I'd love to see them show that this intake gives this much hp on the dyno or that header gives this much more torque. Installing new suspension stuff, not certain but I think they usually test the new stuff's handling ability. Just would be nice to have on paper the actual results from installing the different products.

i understand your anger, but they've had quite a few project cars in the past that weren't honda or acura. nissan sentra, subaru 2.5rs, mazda RX7, miata, toyota matrix, ford focus and even the dodge neon.

i want them to do something to the Protege5/MP3 too... but i guess they don't see a huge potential for it yet.

If I remember right I thought they have done lots of stuff to their mp3? Because didnt it have a bunch of sponsors and things on the side when they took it to that one race school? Also that car audio magazine has an mp3 project car.

They took it to the race school...that is correct, but if you remember in the article they complained about how in the straightaways they were getting passed all the time because of the lacking performance. It would have been the perfect chance for them to soup it up a little right before that to show people a little more straight line performance in addition to the already more than adequate curvy performance.

Yeah, they could have...But in their all to common ineffciency they dropped the ball, again.

I mean come on, the Matrix wasn't even out yet and they had some company making crap for it already. That's kind of bogus if you ask me.

They make a huge hullaballoo about having an MP3 project and you only see a glimpse of it every now and again in the mag, and it isn't even for the actual "Project car"dom that it is supposed to be. I'm sorry, but I'm glad I didn't get a subscription in hopes of getting every MP3 project update. If I had, I would have to renew my subscription on the off chance that they would run it the next year.
