Sport 20 Kit

Not sure about the total complete kit (with the corners and all), but a few guys have the Sport 20 front bumper. Negatize, FlyinHawaiin to name a few. The only problem with trying to order that Sport 20 front bumper is that shipping to us in Canada is gonna be a biatch.

Hi, I got a sport20 front bumper here in quebec, cost me 150$US of shipping + 150$CDN of taxes and ddouanage(dont know how to say it in english) so the whole cost of the front, without paint, is around 650$... but I am the only one in quebec :D !

I think you mean duty.

Thats pretty cool... but that most have been when the dollar wasn't as strong... I'm looking forward to swapping my 2003 front end for a 2000 front end with a sport 20 front bumper and autoexe lower lip. Should be good times and make for a nice show car later on :)

yeah, now the dollar is stronger so it should cost you less ! but the problem is for the lip, it is so MUCH expensive, 430$US !!!! more than the whole bumper ! but for sure when I'll have money i'll have the lip..looks so nice !

will you get the whole sport20 headlight, fender, kit ??? or take 99-00 USDM protege part for the headlight , hood etc ? (considering you'll swap a 99-00 sport 20 instead of your 2003 front)

Looking at doing the sport20 headlights, fenders, clear corners... so I can have the dual lamp headlight.. looks so much nicer.. then with that being done... putting eyelids on the lights to square off the headlights.

Hey man, great to hear that you're looking at joining the Sport-20 club! I wanted to do the whole Sport-20 front end with the fenders and dual-light setup, but that was way too much for me. I think I still spent over $1000 on the whole kit (bumper, side skirts, rear lip) after paint.

The other thing is I wish you luck on swapping out your front end for a 99-00 front clip. I don't know if all the mounting brackets line up or whatnot. Have you researched what is required to do that swap? It might be more involved than you think.

Anyways, you have great taste in body kits and I look forward to updates on your endeavor.

there is a sport20 headlight fender kit??? i didn't know that, i've been looking into doing the 03.5 msp bumper and lip kit, but i love the looks of the sport20 kit, but ihave an 02 lx, so i thought i was ought of luck other than doing the whole front end, which i dont want to spend that much money on. point me in the right direction of that headlight fender kit

I've obviously had trouble researching this as there are probably not many people with an 2001-03 Protege that did a front end swap. I'm gonna take a stab and say that the mounting spots are the same. But... again... if no ones done it, then I suppose its trial and error. My first thing to try is to take off the headlights and fenders and pick up a 99-00 stock front bumper at a wreckers... if the front bumper mounts fine, then in theory the sport 20 front end should fit. I contacted corksport and they mentioned something about the lines not lining up properly... but to the best of my knowledge... the lines (the folds and that in the fenders) on the 99-00 fenders are the same as the lines on the 01-03 accept obviously around the corners of the headlights...

So, unless I can find someone thats done this swap.. then thats how I'll go about finding out if the sport 20 bumper will mount.

Other then that, I'm still trying to research the difference between the "jdm fenders" and the "usdm fenders". I believe the difference is that the clear corners on the jdm lights are a bit smaller, and therefor the gapping of the jdm fenders will be a little smaller (tighter)... if you know what I mean, then if you were to use a usdm fender and put the jdm clear corners on there...

Hey man,

you are the one who signed my guestbook at cardomain right?
If you want to convert the front-end you will need some parts but you can modify some parts. I will try to explain it in 2 sections.

Must have:
-The part you will really need is the front mask?(where the radiator hangs on)
It is shorter than the 2001+ models.

-Also get a new hood.

-headlights,corners.

-bumper & grilles

Should have
-You can modify your fenders to fit the 1999-00 headlights but its better to get new fenders because there are some points where some headlight pins connect to the fenders.

-Perhaps your inner fenders/ splash shields will work, protege5 and 99-00 models are no match. But others could fit.

-headlight wiring, or rewire.

Oh and one last thing.
I don't have the bumper reinforcement bar so I can't tell you anything about that. You will probably need to cut it or get a whole new one.

Hopefully I didn't forget anything.

I can also send you the parts (crazy)
but it will be extremely expensive.

I would suggest swapping with someone else on the board that is near you or buy the parts at the wreckers.

Greetings! Yes it was I who signed your guestbook :)

Is it possible to get a picture of the "front mask" which you are saying is shorter?

I kinda figured the rest would be different.

As for the wiring, I'm guessing I would need to cap off one part of the lights as there are 3 bulbs in the 2001+ models (Corner light, main bulb, middle turn bulb) and only 2 in the 99-00 (main bulb and corner light) and I would just need the socket end that fits into the 99-00 bulb at the clear corner, using what used to be the middle turnsignal bulb on the 2001+).

That would work wouldn't it??

here you can see it properly. The whole front thing connected to the chassis. The part where you attach your lights too is probably the best way to describe it.

As for the light, the middle turnsignal and h4 headlamp will just pop into the corner signals and headlamp of the 99.

Only problem there could be is the electrical height adjustment of the headlight and the smaller light. These are connected with the same plug.
But this could be different from USDM models!!! You will have to see that yourself. At least your turnsignals and headlamp will work :)

I'll take measurements of the described piece. From the corner to the front bend, to the other front bend, to the other corner, and I'll get back to you with the measurements.. from the picture, it looks the same size... hrmmm

we don't have electronic height adjustment of the headlight in the US (deadhorse

I have some pictures here that I picked up from the dealers the other day. I will get them scanned tomorrow. But I'm not sure I understand quite what you are saying about the "radiator rack" is shorter. the cars width is the same from the 99-00 as the 01-03 model. However the dealer did advise me that the part number is different. Is this what you were talking about? Will I have to source a new "rad rack" as well?

I've done the entire conversion. My car was a 2000 ES. $2300 or the price on Corksport is what I paid. That may have changed by now though.

AutoExe lip was another $800 (from Japan-Canada-US + paint) when all was said and done.

On the earlier '99-'00 the conversion was alot easier. To do it correctly you NEED everything from Corksport. If you have a '01+ you will need to change the hood also. I'm not sure about the rad-support.

***the only way can mix-match Sport20 parts is if you have a '99-'00. Then and only then can you put "just" the Sport20 bumper and the grille on without buying the entire conversion***

The bumper re-inforcement bar will need to be removed to put the Sport20 bumper on.

The headlights will have to be re-wired to work with the dual-bulb set-up and the fact that there is also a parking light (city light) in the high-beam part.

Hope this helps!

I believe Arnhem is talking about the "radiator support". At least that's what it's officially called.

Arnhem, did you have to swap the radiators too? or were you able to retain the radiator from the 2000.

If you were able to retain the original radiator, then that would mean they mount in the same spot. so I wouldn't have to worry about needing a new rad. :)

I haven't changed my radiator support yet.

Perhaps I won't because I will probably get some new hinges made for mounting the headlight and bumper.

So I really can't tell if the radiators are the same.
Perhaps you can look at part numbers of the radiator, maybe they list different.
