Spoke To Mazda Rep In Person!

:
2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege
So I was out at Bigger's Mazda out here in Elgin, IL and it turns out the Mazda Rep for the entire IL state hangs out there, and is pretty much stationed out of that dealship, well sufice to say in talking to him I learned some pretty interesting things. For one according to him and Mazda they fully understand that people are going to Mod there Speeds and will typically cover anything that happens to it under warrenty as long as it's not major mods like different sized turbo's and the such. Also according to him they fully understand people are going to be racing this car, and driving it hard and if you fry your clutch out they will replace it under warrenty because again they know that hey it happens but oh well. He wasn't sure on the whole hestiation thing and was going to get back to me on it.

Also as a side note, if you live in IL and want a real dealship to go to, head out to Bigger's Mazda, they actually know what the hell they are talking about, there the number 1 rated dealship in the state for Mazda, and they handle the most Speeds out of any dealship. The service manager used to work for Pugi and he and I got talking and we agree on them being asses. So that's were my speed is going.

I say you should, like I said there an awesom dealship, and I loved dealing with them, and the Owner for the entire bigger's corp. is a really nice down to earth guy.

No sorry, your wrong, my friends clutch went bad in his civic si n honda replaced it under warranty

is there any way i can go down to another dealer in my area, and still be under warranty? or is it just with the specific dealer?

No, Johnny, any Mazdaspeed authorized dealer can do your warenty work. And if the work isn't for something specific to the Mazdaspeed (for example, electric windows quit working) then any Mazda dealer can do it.

Guess it would all depend on how many miles you have on your car for them to replace the clutch. Now if it is low miles then yes they probably will, but put some more miles and they won't.

And no some dealers do whine about the tire wear being low on some cars. Guess it just depends on how anal your dealer is.

well i bought my msp from biggers. i thought they were ok. What was the name of that guy you talked to? do u remember? Im just curious.

My car now has 10,498 miles on it and as OrangeMSP said, it's in the shop for the clutch. It was totally fried and it was apparent I had been racing the hell out of the car. I had a hell of a time having it replaced, though. Regional service manager didn't want to do it but the service advisor finally did it after talking to me and warning me not to do it again.

Sorry, but that guy's full of s***.

I reread what you typed and it sounds like he was speaking on behalf of himself or "his" dealership, not Mazda in general.

I forget the guys exact name but Jim the owner was standing right there, along with Don the finance manager and the head of the service department when the rep said it. Come on now, if we can't believe the Mazda rep's themselves who can we trust? See I think in a lot of cases were we're running into problems with getting warrenty work done, and things of that nature, are more dealer specific, and service reps being lazy and not wanting to help out the "young and dumb" kid. I am still amazed at how even being 22 people give you a hard time about being a "kid" and not knowing anything. It's scary when you pull up in your car and tell the service people what's wrong and they go "well we'll see about that, but it's probably somthing else, we're trained" and then they come back to you an hour later telling you the exact same thing you told them was wrong. Quite frankly I think most car deaerships should rot in hell, sorry hope no one here works for one.

I do i work for a honda dealership and ive been in the car business since i was 20 im 29 now and i love it. Sure there going to treat you like s*** when you go in for service but ill tell you how to get back at them. They send you a survey from mazda on all warrenty work not C.O.D. work. So if its warrenty work and your not happy with them then you SLAM them on the survey give them the lowets score possible you can give it will cut there bonus down for the service dept. and they will problet call you to give you something free. Also when you go in for service tell the service advisor you want to ride with the tech who works on your car to see if he can duplicate the same problem you have a concern with. And ask for the most experienced tech that knows about your car MAZDASPeEDS that is. They have 1 or 2 who are trained on this vehicle. then asl to speak to the tech after you pick up your car to find out what he did to your car. Just trying to help you guys out a little bit. I have a 03 mazdaspeed also with alot of mods to it and i know the GM where i bought mine from but still it wont help the reps make all the decisisons on the cars. Or the service director will but you will have to put the car back stock for the warrenty issue. What i would suggest is take your car into service for issues at one dealer and if something goes really wrong put it back to stock and choose another dealership to go to the havent seen your car and they wont know its been modified either. Keep everything factory like oil filters that kida stuff. So good luck guys

omg is that funny. When I was dealing with the clunk the first Mazda rep I met didn't do a damn thing. now the guy I got now is great. But let me tell ya, went through quite a few Mazda guys before I found someone that cared. I think this is more of a individual personallity thing then a Mazda in general thing. If that guy your talking to cares....then go nowhere else.

I'm starting to think "Mazdaspeed Authorized Dealer" means jack s***...

just b/c a few people got there clutch replaced after they brunt the s*** off of it doens't mean any thing. 90% of the time your dealer will tell you to get lost and they won't cover it. It is a normal wear and tare part. The clutch is in the same category as your windshield. 90% of the time they won't replaced but if you find a service manager in a good mood and you b**** to him enough they will replaced it for you.

That may be true that most dealers won't replace your clutch since it's a basic wear and tear part. But if Biggers Mazda CLAIMS to replace it, then it's worth a shot. I'm going to try it if mine ever goes out.
