Thanks for the continuing advice.
Before installing the new gauge face they were checked by overlaying one on top of the other and the markings are identically spaced. Also,when originally refitting the needle it was fitted at the "0" stop and the discreppancy was even greater than it is now, I fitted it again pointing at 5mph to reduce the difference. Perhaps if I fit it pointing at 10-15 it may be closer to the true speed at 30-60!!
Don't think I pressed it on too tight, I know it's not fouling, but next time I have the dash apart will check.
As for checking the accuracy, didn't suspect anything till we noticed that in 30, 40 or 50 speed limits we were flying by everybody. So followed our other car at set speeds and compared, the Grand Cherokee has a GPS with a very accurate speed readout. (To confirm the accuracy of the car{removeable} gps checked it against the two GPS in the helicopter I fly for a living.
