This should be interesting... anyone want to brag about any speeding tickets they've received while driving the MS3?

Just curious to see who is the most notorious (and officially documented) speed demon on the boards.

Also... does anyone know if your insurance rates go up if someone else gets a speeding ticket while driving your car?

Got pulled over twice within a block of my house one for 52mph in a 40 zone, didnt get a ticket. then a seatbelt violation, did get $112 ticket right in front of my house.

Your insurance will go up after a ticket, but only if you never get it "cleared" from you DMV record. I'm sure it varies from state to state, but in CA you pay your ticket, then you go to traffic school, and upon completion, the ticket is cleared, and no insurance hike. Only one ticket can be cleared per year(might be longer, can't remember). Again, this probably varies from state to state. I'm fairly certain that this applies even when someone else is driving your car too. Your car is your responsibility, is how the insurance companies see it.

I've only gotten one ticket so far(amazingly). This was in '05. It was around 3:30pm, I was driving past a high school, and there was a motorcycle revenue monkey peeking around the fence with his little radar gun, and he had his bike tucked neatly away behind the fence in some bushes. I was cruising at 38mph, and he just walked out into the street, and motioned me to pull over. I did and he asked me if I knew the school zone speed limit, jammed radar gun reading in my face, and walked off to write me my ticket. So, despite no students being present, and school not being in session, I got my ticket for doing a homicidal 13mph over. lol Oh well. I've never gotten a ticket since(knock on wood) depsite my daily act of pure evil, speeding. I owe part of my ticket-less driving to my RD. Thanks Beltronics! Wish I had my RD back then!

Cruise control FTW! After paying over $4,000 a year for insurance at one point of my life (younger days), which was actually more than my car payments, I've decided that those tickets are just not worth it.

That's not to say I drive like a granny now. Everyone I know looks in my direction whenever someone mentions anything about speed, and my family would probably rather walk than ride in my car given the choice. I still have some fun on the back roads every now and then, and ; I just pay more attention to my surroundings for the friendly neighborhood police officers/ troopers. ^_^v

yeah my younger days had me paying over 6,000 a year for insurance...

hell my first ticket landed me a suspended license (if that gives you an idea of how fast I was going...)

Ive learned self control and since curved my lead foot. I still have fun driving my car and I know how to enjoy a backroad; Ive just learned to stay off in situations its not necessary or warranted. Also, knowing the RIGHT way to spot potential speed traps/cops is always great too.

and Im just like you Hikaru... anyone mentions speed in my family, and all attention is directed to me :p

The ticket goes to the driver not the owner of the car. As for the insurance I have never heard that being applied to the owner of the car for a different driver that got a ticket.

You should have fought that ticket you know. I did some research and if every one who got a ticket fought it by mail 33% would be let off due to the cop not wanting to reply via mail. Now show up to court where they are paid time and a half for over time good luck on the piggy no showing up for some extra wages.

When you contest a ticket via mail the cop isnt paid anything for the time it takes him to respond and he has no face to put with a ticket he wrote 6 months back.

It in full legal right to fight a ticket by mail and there is something called TICKET ASSASIN so look it up and you can copy/paste a bunch of legal talk and just change the appropriate info.

That being said I did it and no I wasnt in the 33% I got a ticket.

I have gotten a big ticket and probably the biggest on here.

105 in a 65 LOL

Lol... I think we have a winner. (first)

Not that I condone speeding... but I figure if the word 'speed' is part of your cars model name, you're somewhat entitled to going a little fast.

from what i can read on your sig, your internet sucks dude

speeding ticket in NJ ( 60 in a 40, 200 dollars. 4 pointer.) put me at 6 points and then had to pay 100 bucks to take the driver remediation class. 3 points got cleared after the class but we were put on probation for a year and we would lose our liscense if we got another points ticket within the year. luckily i didnt get any. 3 points were dropped, but i had to pay a 150 dollar surcharge every may for 3 years and that took care that. finally have 0 points on my liscense and it feels good. hopefully insurance drops a good deal this next pay period.

0 points FTW.

I feel your pain. My license had been suspended, too, not because of my driving, but thanks to the insurance agents who dropped the ball. I had switched the my insurance company, and I had mailed the proof of prior coverage. For some odd reason, they claimed that they had never received it. The problem was that I didn't know about this until I got a nice letter from DMV saying that my license had been suspended, and since I was driving without an insurance for like a month (since the coverage did not carry over), my premium had hiked more than $1,500 to over $4,000. I had to file an SR-22 and deal with high rates for years. Explaining why I was paying so much insurance for a crappy $10,000 used car got old really fast. >_<

I cant beat 105 in a 65, but I did get pulled over on the third day of having my speed3 and was threatened by the cop (well, park ranger) that he would take my license away.... turns out he didnt have any idea how fast i was going, just saw/heard the car and assumed i was going fast and couldnt even give me a ticket

I have gotten a ticket in the MS3 yet (hope I never do), but I will consider using what you said as an excuse and see what kind of reaction I get. ^_^v

Someone should start a poll to see how many people get pulled over and get a warning only instead of a ticket, and make a comparison based on gender. I realize that's being a sexist, but it's amazing how many stories I've heard from some girl friends about their adventures and how they were able to get off without a ticket. I would have been put into jail without a question if I had been pulled over going over 110. (<- like my friend Sunny who didn't get anything.... she only had a conversation about the Hello Kitty dolls she had in the car - the officer was a female)

In my case, it's as if the cops just assume that I had been speeding. "Look, an Asian male driving a sport compact with tinted windows! He must be speeding." Two years ago I was giving a ride to my mom during a rush hour traffic on 66. Cop pulled me over and said I was going 79 - he didn't clock me, instead he claimed that he was following me. I knew I was going only about five over the limit (60), so I went to the court since I did not want to pay a fine thanks to some lying cop. Even my mom, who'd usually vouch for the law enforcement, believed I wasn't speeding since she was sitting next to me. I printed out my clean driving record and brought it to the court, hoping that would help me. The cop told the judge that I had been going over 80 and that when he pulled me over I was going about 79; moreover, the judge didn't even want to look at my driving record printouts.

I'm hoping the hatch look of the MS3 will get me out of the usual suspects list (or at least attract less attention than my RSX did).

No tkt. But 3 days after I got my MS3 I got pulled over when taking someone from work for a ride. I got pulled over doing 62 in a 40mph zone. The cop asked me if I liked my car...and where I worked. He ended up writing me a warning!!!! That cop was awesome! :P

Haven't gotten one in the Speed3 yet. Had a few in the MSP and on my CBR1000RR in the recent past but I'm trying to keep from any more legal trouble at this point. $251/month insurance is bad enough without my DUI even showing up on my driving record yet. I've learned my lessons tho. I drive extremely conservatively now and have a driver everywhere I go when I hit the bar.

Lol... sounds like he was in a hurry and went straight to a Mazda dealership.

LOL. Better than what I used to have : nothing. It gets the job done. It's mostly due to the crappy router(family's choice in the router, not mine unfortunatly). On newsgroups I'm lucky to see over 600kb/s down, but good enough. :p

Back on topic. Whitey4311, I was refering to the insurance hike being awarded to the owner of the car, regardless of who was driving. Not the ticket. Still, I'd imagine it's all up the insurance provider. And yes, your're correct, I should've fought that ticket. But I really didn't care to take the time, as dumb as that sounds. lol At the time I was so stressed and worn out from work(you all know what thats like I'm sure), all I wanted to do in my spare time was sleep, and maybe watch some tv. But oh well, it's all said and done.
