Speed3 Rods AND pistons?

Hey everyone. I need to know with absolute certainty whether or not we MUST replace the pistons if we upgrade to the Pauter Rods. They are sold individually and nothing mentions that they MUST both be used. I've heard that the pistons were plenty strong but the rods are the weak link. Also, Can they be dropped out the bottom end without pulling the motor? About how many hours would I be looking at?

Not a MUST as there is one member here who had the Pauter rods with stock pistons, aftermarket bearings, etc. This is in a Mazdaspeed6, which is no different.

Thanks!! I was nervous because I have had this discussion pop up previously and something was said about wrist pins and that because of these pins, we HAD to swap both rods and pistons out. Waste of money i think since the pistons are good and strong. Just terrified to mod too much and throw a rod!
