Soot? Gas Mileage?

Is the S3 DI is almost a diesel?

Sooty pipe? I looked for it in the brochure and in the owners manual. No mention of it. Is it related to all the soot coming from the front pads? Kind of balances the appearance a little. Sooty nose and a sooty bum.

Not the best car to choose for the Mobil gas economy run is it? Not with that nice fat power-band it isn't.

Yeah, the trip computer is about 2 mpg too high. I calculate my MPG by amount of fuel vs. mileage at every fill-up. I have averaged 24.7 mpg in mostly highway driving since I bought it 2,600 miles ago. The trip computer has me averaging 26.5 mpg.

I should update this number now that I have about 24,000 miles on the car. I average about 26.5 mpg overall in mostly highway driving. The trip computer says that I average over 28. So ... still about 2 mpg off.

Just did a lil 18 hour trip non stop in the speed from Florida to Long Island. I keep speeds from 78 to 95 the whole trip, and by doing the calculations at each fill up i was averaging 30.22mpg. When i first bought the car in June and made the trip down to Florida i only averaged 26mpg, but now i have almost 9 thousand miles so i guess the car is now broken in.
