speed3 brakes on a non speed!???

The rear are the same but the fronts are not. I haven't looked at it but they are heavier for sure. If you want more stopping power... just get better pads.

I think you would have to go to 18's if the swap could be done. sticky tires and better pads, and SS lines are the best bet to better your stop.

the speed3 calipers are no better, its just a different design. its a different carrier, caliper, rotor and pads. wouldn't be hard to change it all over but theres no point really. that cost of a brembo kit or stoptech kit would cost about the same. as stated start with a good set of pads and rotors, aswell as ss lines and get racing brake fluid.

oh and you can get by with 17s you just need a low offset. (i'm a mazda tech and one of our customers has 17 inch snowtires/wheels on his speed)

Remember that MS3's and 6's use 12.6" rotors and base 3's and 6's use either 11.1" rotors on early models or 11.8" rotors on later models.

I run the 11.1" rotors on my MX-6 and in such a light car they work verry well. They are almost a inch larger than stock and fit my 15" wheels just barely.

The MS brakes will bolt on just fine too. I plan on either those or CX-9 brakes next and I might tackle the RX-7 adaptor bracket issue too.
