Front end? AWSOME... 8/10
From the side? Pretty damn nice... 7/10
Rear End? Lacking =( 4/10

The rear end on the speed 6's doesn't do it for me. The "fake" huge exhaust tip thing and the black lower part on the bumpers... is just awful. Makes the rear end of the cars look high off the ground... and black altezza's on silver... probably white... doesn't work very well....

If anyone has seen... has links... or any ideas for upgrading / fixing / replacing the rear end on these cars i'd love to hear / see it....

I'll be replacing / upgrading the exhaust most likely so that isn't a huge issue...

Exhaust Modification

I'm somewhat worried about doing to many engine mods... I need to find out what voids my warranty and such.... The dealership gave me a 10 / 100 warranty with my speed6 for free to sell the car...

I know its illegal... for example... lets say my engine exploded.... and I had a custom stereo.... For them to tell me the stereo blew up my engine...

But upgrading / changing the exhaust might be an excuse for them to void my warranty on such things.... ANYWAY.... once I figure more of that out... i'll jump into other mods.

Don't let the warranty stop you man. I say enjoy your car completely. I know a couple of companies make exhausts for the MS6 like maybe Racing Beat and AutoEXE, but I would say give the car some time before you mod it. The time you give it willalso give the aftermarket some time to do R&D and build parts. But to each his own. Check out my AutoEXE MS6 Parts post. I'm not a vendor, but you might be able to get that stuff. Apartmently Magnaflow (link contains video) makes or is making an exhaust for the MS6. Good luck, I hope I helped a bit.

Damn it runs mid-13's stock. How many engine mods do you need?

Great advice Apex (thumb)

I would say whatever you do...Make sure you know your rights!

Mid 13's stock? Heh... Evo from japan (or wherever.. the non US model) is 400 hp stock.. and competes with just about any performance car out there...

ANYWAY... I plan on giving my MS6 an outside facelift.... It looks to similar to the standard 6... For 34,000 we got a damn nice engine... but lacking some outside mods... Bigger hood... and slightly modified rear bumper wasn't enough IMO...

As for engine mods... Better exhaust... EVERY stock car needs new exhaust.. they have to conform to SUPER high emissions testing... My friends evo is running 380 hp.. .with intake / exhaust mod ONLY right now...

My old civic had a SUPER loud exhaust.. i hated it... so its nice that the MS6 is so quiet... but I think a bit more of a rumble.. at least when you get on it.... is required =)

Fixed the link

Sorry, I didn't realize that the Magnaflow link wasn't working. So....here's the correct Magnaflow Masdaspeed6 link. The video of the exhaust sound clip should be on this one.

Anyhow, about what you said in your previous post. I complete understand the want to mod the visual side of the MS6. I think the biggest difference visually will be the addition of some nice 18's and a mild drop via springs or coilovers. Not to mention this would probably improve handling.

not upset with the rear of the car, and the exhaust port/bumper thing is something ive seen on another car, and its not terribly bad. the black tails dont impress me too much on any other color choice except gray/silver. and really, if we bought cars solely on looks, toyotas wouldnt sell at all (but then again it explains why dodge neons are still around).

check out the fine print on the extended warranty, cuz it may have stipulations a normal mfg warranty may not have.

As far as Evo's go, 400hp is top of the line FQ series that you have seen taking on Lambo's and the such, also has a ralliart warranty to back it up, FQ series is only available in the UK, not available here in the US. American market definitely get the watered down stuff, although I am glad they changed the gear ratios for the US market Speed 6.
I find that hard to believe that your friends Evo is running 380 with just an Exhaust and an Intake, try adding dyno flash, and a Full system exhaust deleting cat, and then you're at around 380 ish, but really how much power do you need?
I feel the Speed 6, stock is plenty for most, and yeah when more parts become available I will probably be getting the magnaflow cat back and a drop in Filter, I want to hear the engine just a little more, but not too over the top.
I've had the big exhaust on my Escort XR3i when I lived in the UK and the day I had that installed, after 10 mins I wanted to take it off, I don't ever want a massive exhaust like that again.
Don't get me wrong I think the Evo is an awesome car, but having to live with it everyday, and getting challenged at pratically every light, nah I am 32, don't need the attention. Speed 6 is incognito, kind of nice.
Although as the speed 6 becomes a little more popular, I am sure the insurance will end up going up and I will probably get challenged by the Honda's and Neon SRT boys, every once in a while.
