Since i am putting in a quaife lsd, i might as well do clutch and flywheel, so, i am a big fan of act clutches have it on my camaro and my old 200sx, but i see Mental Addiction has a brand of "Spec" clutches, looked on their sight and what not, seem like solid products, and i am willing to try different brands, maby spec is better on Mazdas?...idk...wondering if anyone has one, and there opinions.

two schools of thought to make the tq handling.. ACT = higher pressure, SPEC = better materials

personally, I have a spec stage 3 hybrid, and I like the fact I don't have to throw all my weight into the clutch to disengage it... I've driven an ACT car and its tireing... mine feels like stock, except for the engagement, which grabs hard

spec makes great flywheels as well, but there isn't anything wrong with fidanza either.... it would be simpler to order both the spec flywheel and clutch from Mental Addiction all at one time so yout dont have two seperate orders though.

good luck with whatever you choose

I have the Act street clutch and the fidanza flywheel. I do not like either. However the pedal on the act is still lighter than the 03.5 MSP's for some reason.

Dang it sounds like you have major plans for the car. What is it so far.... MAM FMIC, Clutch, Flywheel, Quaife, ? . What else do you have? You might as well buy the shortblock from MAM as well to supoprt your other mods!

Whered you get the Quaife LSD from and how much ?

my good friend is a tech at a performance shop--Paisly Performance, maby you heard of them, i get some parts for wholesale from him...i have front/rear motor mounts, Mental Addiction fmic, clutch, flywheel, turbo timer, tein springs, 3" dp, 3" exhaust, ordering lsd sometime next week, and thats it for now....i am ordering the mental addiction short block this summer just dont know when i might have a good deal with paisly building the one in my car, and i was priced 1,400 for aem standalone for my car so i got nice plans.

i have a clutchmaster clutch and fidanza flywheel and they have 16K on them. still feel great and they are driven pretty hard......they are not abused.

i have heard good things about SPEC clutches.....

hmm caught...you may want to get ahold of msp#267 he's been having a lot of problems with his spec clutch lately....not sure if he figured it out yet...i do know though that the pressure plate is a hell of a lot lighter than the stock one...which isnt a good thing....i was able to make it slip consistently at the last track outting at only 7-8psi....but talk to him as I'm only 98% sure thats the clutch he got...

When I have the time to change this clutch out again,I'm putting in another stock MSP clutch, this clutch lasted threw 26,xxx miles of hard driving with no problem. This Spec stage2 clutch has been installed correctly and broken-in (1,000 miles) and it slips worst then my stock clutch did at the end of it's life.:(

Oh well I guess you live and you learn.....

maybe your girlfriend or your mom or someone used your car and rode the clutch for a long time and that damaged it. how could it actually be worse then stock? the company would never have made any business. something must not have been right.

MPNick has said that they were using the Stock MSP clutch in one of the built cars hes made with well over 300WHP
