speaker upgrades for an 03 MP5

alright my friend has a Laser Blue 03 MP5 and he can get any infinity products at 60% off so he decided to first do a speakers/amp combo. He really wants Kappas but i dont know which ones would fit. I looked over the fiment guide in the sticky and im getting a lot of conflicting points of view so im starting a new thread. Which speakers should he get (strictly infinity) and which amp (any brand) should he get to power all 4 of the door speakers as well as the tweeters. Also can he just get a component system to swap out the tweeters or will that not work. Sorry for babbling on, any help will be greatly appreciated. :D

can he get me any products? i would love the infinity perfect 6.5s for the rear doors of my car. and hell id throw them up front too

i dunno if he can, his brother works at circuit city so he can get them for him but he has to take in his bros car and say its his to get them at that price.

any ideas on sizes for a P5 as well as amp options?? im not too great with power rating and such and i dont wanna blow up his speakers w/ a powerful amp

2002-UP P5
Front 6x8" / 5x7" @ 2.75" *
Front seperate tweeters by mirrors. (2002.5-UP P5)
Rear 6" @ 4.25", 6" speakers fit the best and 6 1/2" can fit by cutting the rain guard, Thanks Sir Nuke.

This is from the sticky, it is a 100% accurate. There is nothing to conflict about it (thumb)
These are what drop into the factory locations.

The front can be reworked to fit 5.25" or 6.5" speakers.

A component has tweeters and mids. If you mean just swap out the tweeter then no that may not work. Replace them both or leave the factory tweeter disconnected.

Just get an amp that is rated to the same or somewhat similar rms ratting as the infinity kappas. Rember RMS power NOT peak power. 50x4 rms @4 ohm should do the job nicely.

K I've got a 2002 P5 (no tweets) and am using Kappas for front and rear (5"x7" front, 6.5" 2-way rear). I'm powering them with an Audiobahn A4601T (75Wx4 RMS).

I got the speakers and the amp from www.ikesound.com
Actually here are the links:
Infinity Kappa 572.5CF (5"x7" 2-way coaxs)
Infinity Kappa 62.5I (6.5" 2-way coaxs)
Audiobahn A4601T Amp

Total for all three is $402 (not including shipping)
Each set of Kappas costs $76.50 and the amp is $249.

Anyway, just my 2 cents, but I'm *really* happy with the set up. It can get really loud and bumps fairly well (this is all without a sub mind you!). Plus, the amp gives off a blue glow from the leds, so since I had it mounted underneath the driver's seat, blue light flashes to the music! This is cool at night when you're parked, but I don't suggest staring at your feet while you're on the freeway.

The only thing I've got left to do is dynamat the speakers in the doors. After that I'll be set for a while...until I convince myself that a sub will make me happier.

Forgot to mention the power thing:

The 5x7s take 100W RMS while the 6.5s take 75W RMS. I just stuck with a 75W x 4 RMS amp so I don't overpower the rear speakers.

But yea, make sure to check out the RMS power...peak power's not really a useful statistic...probably more of a marketing thing than anything else.
