my computer just crashed. completely. I don't know what to do. I'm looking for a xp boot cd or something because each time I do any HD boot (safe mode, normal, etc) the computer will show the XP boot screen, then a blue screen comes on and the system immediately restarts. I can't read the blue screen, it changes too fast.

Please help!!!!!!!!

ah, the blue screen of what-the-****-was-that-it-went-by-way-too-fast. Try booting in safe mode, if that doesnt work it looks like a reinstall pal.

oh yeah, load the XP disk and try to repair the install. but yeah, if it cant be fixed then that windows install is T3h FUX0R3d!!11!!11!!11

didn't I say to wait? anyways... if neither safe mode or the boot cd works then I guess it was just time to do a fresh install.

exactly, I put all the important stuff like mp3's and pr0n on seperate drives/partitions ;)

honestly, I have a windows partition, and the the rest... everyone should do it.

Skip the first option for repairing, select install windows, then there will be a 2nd repair option. This will reload windows and keep all your programs but you'll loose and windows updates. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

im trying to run chkdsk. nothing works. no safe modes at ALL.

otherwise i'll try system restore.

SP2 has been removed. What a scare. I thought sure I was going to have to reformat my HD, lose a ton of data.

RESULT SUGGESTION: do NOT install SP2 unless you have security issues or they MAKE you! Its not worth the hassle if you know enough about computers to get rid of spyware, browse "defensively" and not give away info!

still haven't installed sp2 on any of my home machines. Not going to either.

Might install it at work and see what happens. i don't care about that one. I haven't had anyone I know personally have any issues with it. But reading everyone's experience with it on the net has convinced me to stay away.

Everything works on my machine, I have no reason to take the risk.

exactly!! If it WORKS, dont fix it.

its just TOO appealing to the human- FREE UPDATE. lol.

i finally got my computer to boot after running chkdsk. it took like 30-45mins to run. My winxp files were corrupted BAD.

Its running ok now. I removed the SP2 update.
