I can't say I'm the most mature here, as I'm only 22. But this attitude calling everyone hypocrites regarding breaking the law is a little ridiculous. You said you were going 110. Have I ever gone that fast? Yes. But on a public road that answer would be absolutely not. Yes. I speed. I generally go about 5mph over if the speed limit is below 50, and about 10mph over if it's above 50. Do I go faster than that sometimes? Yes. Is that illegal? Yes. Is it dangerous? Yes it can be. However, going 110 on a public road, THAT is dangerous. So is weaving and bobbing between traffic. It's not so much whether or not your a good enough driver to handle your car weaving in between other people at high speeds. The issue I have is the other drivers. Other people do not *expect* that somebody is going to be blowing past them at 110mph. Nor do they expect that car next to them is going to floor it and squeeze in front of them by going diagonally between them and the car just ahead of them in the lane next to them.
I have personally seen young teenage drivers do stupid crap like this. 3 years ago, when I was younger and a lot more stupid, I did speed around like a chicken with my head cut off. I went fast everywhere. People would want to race me (though I never really did, I just continued on at my general pace of 90mph or whatever I thought was reasonable at that time in life). Have you ever seen a wreck at 90+ MPH? I have. It was some guy in a Nissan 240SX or whatever and he blew past me while I was going 90. Tried "weaving and bobbing", and somebody changed lanes. I have NEVER sped that fast since that point in life. I was fine, and the kid was fine, but as for the car, there was no way that would ever be recovered.
If for no other reason than a selfish one, how about slow it down a bit just for the reassurance that somebody else doesn't do something you don't expect and then you end up with that pride and joy vehicle of yours totaled out. Just my two cents. Besides, I'd rather spend some extra money and take my car to the track frequently and legitimately race than spend far more money on the insurance premiums and tickets that would be added to my record for driving like a maniac.
As for being pissed off at other drivers, I can wholeheartedly agree with you there. I work at Microsoft, and you wouldn't believe the absolutely ridiculous driving behavior I see on a daily basis driving to work. But think about it, by doing what you did, you just dropped to their level and made yourself just as much of a prick as he was, and what did you gain out of it personally? Absolutely nothing. You went fast and proved you weren't going to take his s***, but does that really matter in the long run in life? Probably not. You'll probably never meet the guy in person anyways, so it shouldn't matter to you. Let them go on their own way and be idiots and get in wrecks, don't put yourself in that danger as well. Just my opinion. As I'm saying myself, I used to be like that with the same mentality. You'll grow out of it eventually, but hopefully it won't take somebody wrecking themselves right in front of you to realize it.
