Soon to be 3 owner...

What's up all,

I'll soon own (most likely) a winning blue mazda3 s hatch when i move to Rockville, MD for my job. I wanna stay small, but move to convenience as well. I'm sure all of you would vouch for the 3, but I would also like to know what kinds of common problems it has. From looking around this website, I've seen various things like rattles in the doors and check engine lights going off... etc. Are there any other things I should be awake of?

While test driving one, I didn't like the throw on the gear shifting on MT... felt very loose and long. I also noticed that the stock radio sucks. I didn't see the Bose upgrade available for the 3 either. Is that true? I appreciate the help ahead of time!

Just in case anyone was wondering, I currently drive a '98 Integra GS-R. I love the car, but it's definitely time to sell it. Moving to the 3 would definitely be an adjustment... but I'm also considering the '05 RSX-s.

well the rsx type s costs a little more than the 3 and since you currently own an integra gs-r i would suggest the rsx-s instead. even though this is a mazda forum, for you personally i don't think you would like the 3 as much as the rsx.

as far as the radio... the first thing i did was use some sound deadening and left everything else stock and was pleasently surprised... it sounded better then a couple pos's i owned with after market speakers..pioneer pos... and a kenwood hu... i have since put in speakers and an amp and am now lovin the sound!!! just hurtin on the low end b/c i need to save some $ for a sub amp....

I have the SP23 and it comes standard with the BOSE system... however as far as i know, u can get eh bose package on any 3. I think u have 2 get the sunroof option though. I think the BOSE sounds pretty nice... 6 speakers (2 tweeter) and sub/amp.

Well it just depends on how fast the guy has 2 go. It's nice being able 2 drop a gear and rip by sombody... but is it necessary?? Personally I love the 3 it cruises nice but it certainly isnt a balls-2-the-walls kinda car... so i bought a yamaha R6... it makes up 4 the power!! (rockon)

yeh i didn't feel the power in the 3 as much as my teg. driving my car on the highway is always fun. in terms of convenience tho, i think that the 3 beats it. people hate sitting in my car...

Just depends on if u are willing 2 give up speed 4 comfort and gas mileage?? And may I suggest the heated leather seats!!
