something to solve long sig headaches

I have been posting over at srtforums alot lately. One thing I noticed is that in any thread your sig only appears in your first post in that htread. I think this is a good idea. What do you guys think?

I think that'd be great, the only people that should have a sig after every post is an AMM or AV (imo), I think that sigs are funny but they tend to clutter the pages and slow load times (even on broadband/cable). I, for one, would be a proponent of a system like that.

There's a couple of people's sigs on here that are crazy long. I really can't think of the names off the top of my head. Even my sig is borderline too big.

If someone wants to shrink my blender down that would be great. Just PM it to me.

I vote yes. 75% of a thread is made up of repeated signatures. I like seeing them but some times its just overkill. People gotta learn what belongs in their sig versus what belongs on a website.

For example, Pretzellogic, do you really think we need to know that you have a zoom-zoom sticker and a StrongBad sticker? Its not like that adds anything to your post. People aren't going to recognize you because of it. It just isn't necessary. Not to pick on you but there are many people with just as irrelevant babble that takes up half my screen at 1024x768.

Well, I have them on there as a gag, as it's not a true mod. At one point, that was all I had on my car, so I keep it there for giggles. (eekdance)

I'm trying to figure out a way to reduce my sig through using the marquee tag, but it just doesn't want to work. If anyone could help me out, I'd appreciate it.

don't worry, this thread will be overlooked just like the sig post in the staff forum.

I think ive made 3 different ones in there, and nothing was done, so its pointless, huge sigs will own this forum forever. hell half of the ones in this post are too long imo.

I'm sure I miss alot of car pics, etc., by leaving the sigs off in my browser, but they become so damned redundant and exhausting. I like your suggestion mucho!

Forget it...I just turned sigs off...and it has improved my viewing experience by 80%. You should try it...

No. I enjoy some content or links in members sigs. Also if I'm interested in a reference they make to their own car a link is great or a short list is helpful. The problem is I don't need to know after every post that you are saving up for neon washer nozzles and are running NGK plugs. A way to help deal with that would be limit the size or do something like pro5man suggested which would be great. Your forgetting that having them off leaves you in the dark on some decent sigs with content, and having them on hurts the readability of the forum and looks like a never ending billboard.

I agree. A sig should only be visible in the first post of a user in a given page. Not in a given thread, cause it can go on. But in a given page is reasonable.

enry, where did locations go? I'd like to be able to look at the memberlist and see where people live! I want to reach out and get meets and stuff. cant do this with vbb3
