My engine is filthy and I'm not too sure which areas to cover when using Simple Green. I was gonna do it today, but I didn't wanna take my chances messing anything up.

If someone who has already used Simple Green can upload a pic of the stock engine bay and point out or circle the places that need to be covered that'd be great!!

Warm the engine up a bit since it will loosen the dirt. Cover the intake filter and valve cover with plastic bags. Spray EVERYTHING down with SG and give it a few mins to work its magic. For really dirty areas use a brush to work it in. Use regular hose pressure (no nozzle) to wash it all away. Then wash the valve cover by hand and use wet rags to clean it off. You run the risk of grounding out the plugs if water gets into the well -- it happened to me.

This was a quick clean ... its alot nicer now (especially with the new intake and all the new chrome parts :) )

no other electrical components to cover up? like battery or what not?

i went to the link in your sig, but i don't have the program to view it

Everything else is ok getting wet -- dont worry about the battery.

Which link? For the detailing guide? You can get the acrobat reader for free from adobe.com

Just be carefull. On my fiancee's car we washed the engine down every week w/o covering ANYTHING and no problems. We washed mine 2 times and then it happened. Cylinder 3 dropped out and the car barely ran. Had to pull the wires, stuff towels into the wells to dry them out, then swap the plugs.

yup misfires here too. i however still dont cover anything up. i just dont pressure wash anymore. just let the hose do the work.

It's good... Just like she said, squirt it on, sit a few, rinse it off... I have never had any problems with the VC, but it looks like some have. You won't break anything though...
