Someone Explain.....

thanks again jred. that cleared a lot up for me.

striker im sure uve been to that one evo link that has been floating around. the guy has it reciruclated right? so can i assume that the sound will be the same (not the magnitude jus the same no-whistle tone)? and one more thing, what's the name of that one japanese girl u have as ur avatar??? i think she's pretty cute.

*edit*and one more thing striker, i keep seeing the same exact supra in ur sig around my neighborhood...jus orange. same body kit and everything...its even right hand drive.

ricenudles - that's right. it'll sound pretty similar to that. i prefer the blitz sound though. it's like a half whistle half pshhh sound. watch getaway in stockholm 2...that's the blitz you hear.

haha, that's kyoko fukada. www.kyokochan.net. it's a good site. btw, she's 20...almost 21!

sweet thanks for the link! yeah i do like the blitz but the hks w/o the whistle is pretty tight

while im at it, does any know an proven and efficient (efficient as in both mechanically and $$$-ly, lol) way to recirculate hks ssqv? I know there are a bunch of fabrications (ie using other recirc kits) but some work better than others. any input would be awesome, thanks

hey thanx for the clear up striker.

the tip i was talkign bout is the where the air comes out of the bpv. i heard most stock turbo cars have tips that are plastic that tend to break over time or under high lbs of boost. you wouldn't happen to know how much boost the stock bpv can handle before becoming ineffective?

why dont you try it with the MAF on the pressure side....

.....>..BOV...>MAF...>TB.....

just put the MAF in the pressure side after the BOV...then the ECM can still get a true reading

sparkz - people have discussed this idea before. i believe the reason why it won't work is that you'll have blowback through the maf.

optical - i dunno what the tip of the stock bpv is made of...most likely plastic. the bpv is from the rx-7 so it can't be all that bad.....though i think mine is leaking a little. but joe p (kwiktsi) ran 18 psi, spiking 21, on his car so i guess it holds a lot. i wouldn't recommend running that high of boost though....

when you let off the throttle, the tb plate will close. the pressurized air has to go somewhere so it'll go right back into the turbo....this is why we have a bpv in the first place, to prevent this. but if you have a bov and place the maf after the bov, the air will have to travel back through the maf, and then through the bov.

also most maf's don't like the added heat that would cause, it would lead to premmature failure of the maf, and yes it would probably be covered in blowby sludge before too long

one more thing...

when im installing the bov, do i need a flange? I asked some of my friends and they said "maybe." err, a better answer than maybe would be well appreciated!

oh ok
any suggestions on the diameter of the flange though? 50,60,65 mm?
i am jus so nub at this.

it depends on which BOV you get. each one will have a specific flange diameter.

if anyone on here is getting a BOV just for the sound, i pity you...

each bov out there has a flange that goes with it. the manufacturer makes it. it's not hard to find. and hey, i'm getting a bov sooner or later partly because of the sound :D just don't let it go to your head cause it's not gonna make your car go any faster.
