setup : two 15" mtx subs with an mtx800watt amp pushed by an Alpine HU..

While I sat in traffic (piss) this morning listening to 2PACs song Ambitionz of a Ridah, which has lots of bass, and older man in a black P5 pulls up next to blowing his horn and yelling out the window. I turned the music down to hear what he was saying and it turned out he was yelling " TURN THE MUSIC DOWN BECAUSE YOURE RATTLING EVERYTHING IN MY CAR AND I CANT EVEN THINK STRAIGHT " so I kindly turned the music all the way up to the level it was at and went about my business because he could have asked nicely instead he was a DYCK. Then about 20-25 min. later a younger lady pulls next to me in a Yellow MSP so of course I turned the music down alittle so my eyes werent going crossed and I could see what she looked like. Turns out she was a good from far but far from good type then I turned the music up once again. At that point she then started blowing her horn and gesturing for me to turn it down so I did and when I did so she yelled that her phone was on vibrate and when I turned the music up she thought it was her phone ???

Sorry so long but I figured I would let you all know..

To be quite honest with you I dont like it either. I used to have 2 JL 12 W4s, before the W3 was out, in my old car.

I used to listen to it loud in traffic. Now I realize that it is kind of obnoxious and unnessecary.

I like loud music, but then one day during college I noticed that somewhere along the way I lost the ability to hear a lot of high frequencies in my right ear.
Needless to say, I don't care anymore about being the tough guy in concerts standing in front of 6 full stacks and just taking it all in cuz I'm young and I can. I always have earplugs and if not I just stick something/anything in my ears. I'm only 25 and since I enjoy playing around with recording music, damaging my hearing even more would only mean repeating the same mistakes and just making me more frustrated with myself.

maybe you should have rolled your windows up? not everybody likes the music that loud.
here in and around dayton, they have a 50' rule, if they can hear your stereo from 50' away then you are breaking the noise ordinance which costs like 1st offense=$100, 2nd=$500, 3rd=$2000 then on the 4th they have the right to confiscate your car. I knew a guy once who had his eardrums blown out in a diving accident and the look on his face when the guys stereo was booming 3-4 cars away was awful. He was in a lot of pain... Maybe next time you should think of others too?
so I kindly turned the music all the way up to the level it was
what are you? 6 years old? Don't get me wrong, I turn the volume up too when the time is appropriate.

The thing is they make big subs for people to enjoy them. I mean why would I spend the money I did on these if I cant listen to them without someone complaing. Fuk that I dont complain when I pull up next to a car that blairing rock music with so much distortion you cant hear the song. My stereo isnt even that loud in the 1st place because it only hits a 134 and thats no where near deafening ...

Your rights end when someone else's rights begin.

They also make some powerful weapons for people's legal enjoyment, but if I start to shoot people then my right to own a gun is violating their right to live - it's an extreme example, but you see my point.

Crank it up when heading down the freeway, respect others when in slow traffic, at lights, or in neighborhoods.

That's what I've started to do lately, especially since seeing some other people with some whack ass music blaring and they're thinking they're cool. I don't want to be the person everyone's glaring at so I turn it down, esp if my windows are open.

I always turn my radio down when coming to a stop..just to respect those around me.As soon as the light hits green though...Its up and I am off!
And yes,Daytons NOISE ORDINANCE LAWS SUCK!
50'...what a crock...I can hear a geos radio from 50 foot away if its cranked up!Its just another way for them to harrass us and put money into the cities budget.

i do the same thing when i come to a stop, and turn it up as soon as i get rolling. here in this part of louisiana the noise ordinance law is 100 ft. and concidering i have 2 kicker 12' subs, 4 kicker 6X9 , 4 kicker 1' tweeters, 4 kicker 5 3/4, kicker 800 and kicker 600 thats not hard to accomplish pumping 164 db's, and i only listen music such as godsmack, tool, linkin park, limp bizkit, and other groups like that.. and even with the volume @ 10, it can be heard and felt at 200 ft...noise ordinance suck..

lol...I think people here would actually be more offended if I cranked up some good "Morning Edition" or "All Things Considered."

Is it just me, or does it seem like fewer people these days rattle windows with bass?

You are the kid I wan to throw rocks when they pass my house. I live in a family oriented neighborhood and you guys come through blasting "Put It My Mouth" and s***. Have some courtesy towards those that don't think 2PAC was the greatest rapper alive.

Everyone knows B.I.G. was better anyway!

(lol)
You can have your fun!
BUT,just show a little respect to others around you.You will get farther in life.
Matt
