Thought you guys would like to know, but I took my car into the dealer last monday to get the flash, tint, rear bumper skirt adhesive replaced, and the alarm fixed. Well the advisor called me friday (said it would be done then) to tell me that the alarm module wasn't in yet. Then he called me today to tell me that the alarm is on "national back order," and he had to call mazda to find out what they're going to do, because my battery is completely drained due to the parking lights not turning off and the horn staying on (had to remove the horn fuse.) He said they might take the module out of another car, or get this....GIVE ME A TOTALLY NEW CAR?!?!?! Crazy....but not that crazy I haven't even hit 1000 miles yet...so we'll see what happens....let you know what happens tomorrow...

I doubt they'd give you a new car. They'd take a HUGE loss on it.
But what they will probably do is replace the alarm module from the other car with yours. Then just keep that car as not for sale until they get the new alarm brain in.
But if you can get a new car, same color, all that, id do it. :)

That's kinda what I thought, but then again, he's the one who said that it might be a possibility...

My alarm went off when the garbage truck came by this AM, so I dialed it down quite a bit tonite. Much better!

Mine is out and sitting in my closet. Viper 550 is nice. Remote start wastes gas but warms my car up for me in the morning. With the negative wind chill lately, I've been using it.

When I picked up the MSP new at the dealer, they had to push it out to me, with 36km on it, because the battery had died. They didn't know why, but I found out as soon as I got home and found out the lights were staying on.

Had my alarm brain replaced at 200km, and it hasn';t even been a week and it is now acting up. When I arm the car, everything is fine, but when I disarm, it beeps 3 times... like the circuit is sticking. Mind you it is -20C outside....

I can;'t wait to have my 2WSSR Compustar, turbo timer installed, with car starte, etc...

i get the three beep thing every so often....never had my alarm not turn off yet though ?!?!

grr..what the **** is wrong with these alarms....

i need ****** money for a compustar...

im tired of manually locking my doors@!!!

What's it take to get a new alarm, and what would you guys recommend? I like the current alarm (functionally - wouldn't need anything "more") but have had 2 problems with it, both had it leaving the parking lights on. The brain was replaced BEFORE they went on national backorder and no problem since, but I still don't trust it.

Has anyone had problems with the alarm going off while your driving down the road , or while your sitting in your car while it's running (in idling) and it start to go off??? Also every morning when I go out to my car to start it I have to push the dang reset button under the stearing wheel (every morning)??? She's going back to the dealer Thursday morning to bo looked at. Just wondering what the dealer done to help ya'll out with it.

Yeah unfortunatly the alarm control modules are still on back order, all the msp's we have on our lot are missing them because we put them in customers cars.

My installer also told me that he could have my old 2WSSR installed no problems. I can't wait to have the turbo timer put in, I find myself kicking my own ass sometimes becasue I leave the car and it's still a little hot!

As for the alarm, mine does go off by itself, never when driving though... I am VERY suspicious of this alarm, and don't trust it whatsoever. It goes off for nothing, the WIND makes it go off! DAS CRAP!

Not sure what has to happen for stick cars.... maybe you can't leave the shifter in first gear overnight... only in Neutral, cuz when it starts up........

Ne1 know how it works?

You know? To this day I can't find the sensitivity knob. :wtf:

Maybe Canadian cars did not come equipped with this feature?

It should be on a little black box underneath the stearing wheel column, It's got a little tiny white knob. But you probably already knew what its supposed to look like.

i thought remote start didn't work on stick cars?

They will work but you have to do a couple of things to them to get it to work.
First ,you have to bypass the clutch safety switch which is what wont let your car turn over and start unless the clutch is depressed. This is the main thing that you have to do to the wiring to get it to work. The rest is the on "THE USER END",and that being, you HAVE TO make sure the car is always shut off and put into nuetral with the e-brake applied.Otherwise if it is in gear and the remote start feature is activated, the car does not know it is in gear. You will also be able to start the car manually without have to depress the clutch pedal which if it is in gear will make it jump or even start and idle till it hits something to stop it.Here in is why they DO NOT RECCOMEND installing a remote start on a manual equipped vehicle. It can be dangerous if you ever forget to put it into nuetral before engaging the start or even if you forget to depress the clutch while starting manually in gear.I know one of you out there will say that "MY e-brake is pulled ,so if I accidentally start it in gear it won't go anywhere".WRONG ,it will drag the back wheels or they will just roll with a lot of resistance. If you are careful it is ok,but it is easy to forget as well.
My buddy had an Eclipse GSX 5-speed with remote start and took it in for service.Went to pick it up,paid and was walking out to his car in a big(luckily) pretty open lot, when he decided to hit the remote start to start it up.Well guess what ,he was used to the way he parked it (the right way for remote starting a stick)and the sevice tech left the car in 1st WITHOUT applying the E-Brake.He hit the button, the car fired up and started idling across the lot toward a newer mustang a hundred feet from his car.He ran to catch the car, unlock it manually, and jump in to hit the brakes just moments before it was to hit the stang. This is the exact reason why the do not reccommend putting these on a manual equipped vehicle!
Matt;)
