So I went from Toyo Proxy4 tires to Kumho ASX tires for my P5....

I ran the ASX's but went over to AST's. The AST's dont corner as well, but they have lasted about 4x longer. The increased life of the AST I contribute partly to a change in my driving habits, id say the tire lasts about 2x as long as the ASX. I drove like madman with the ASX's on my car. Couldnt be happier with either tire. price (thumb), wet weather traction(thumb), dry handling (thumb), treadlife (thumb)!

My car had a new set of Toyos on when I got it. Why the bad reviews??

I gotta agree, why the bad reviews? I've had the Proxes on my car for about 1/2 a year or so and haven't had any issues. I know that they handle way better than the ones I had replaced. :)

Now granted, I'm not into the performance and handling of my car as many of you are (the two car seats in the back help remind me that it's our family car), but for a tire to get me from point A to point B, I can't really complain.

Just the newbie in me shining through I suppose. :D

So far I've only been riding on the Kuhmo's for a couple of days, but so far it seems like I have better overall control of my car, especially getting in and out of lanes on the highway at higher speeds....just seems like the Kuhmos grip the road better than the Toyo's did, even when they were new.

I'm really liking them so far.

Since I don't have tires to compare with, how is the road noise at say 70 with the Kuhmo's. It seems kinda loud but I think that could just be the cars lack of sound deadening. SecondSkin Damplifire here i come!

I ran 205/40/17 Kumho Ecsta AST all weathers on my Integra. I think I picked them up for about $70 each. For the money they were incredible. They didn't grip real well in the snow, but not many econo all-weather tires do.

For the money they were fantastic. They were a little stiff as far as grip goes with the 420 teadwear, but even with much abuse they lasted two whole years of dd and race days.

I was looking into the ASXs for the MS3 when the stockers go!!

ive been throung many sets of tires on my pro 5 and the proxxes 4 have prob been the worst handling wise. i read decent reviews about them and got them on. i took a corner that ive always taken at the same speed i would with my old tires and almost died. the understeer was pretty bad and i almost went straight off the road. they were comfortable for highway driving though. thats what would make me give them a bad review.

I had no traction in the rain with my Proxies. I already have wheel spin either way, but the Kumhos do a much better job keeping more hp to the ground. That's why I changed personally.

Count me among the Proxes4 owners that loved them. I put 50,000 km on them and thought they were a great balance between handling and comfort. Plus I thought they were awesome in the wet.

I now have the G-Force Sport A/S's. So far they're about as good as the toyo's.

I'm running that exact setup on my newly installed wheels. So far so good but I need a little more time with them to judge thoroughly.

The Falken Ziex line isn't that great of an All Season tire. The ASX is a much better choice if you need an all season tire and want one that performs well. If you live in an area with little to no snow, the Kumho SPT grips much better in the dry and in the rain because it is a dedicated summer tire. If you want a really sticky tire and don't mind them wearing out quicker, the Falken RT 615 is good as is the Potenza RE01R.

The G-Force line is fine, but the Kumho SPT is a better summer tire and usually cheaper depending on the size you need.

I've had 2 winter seasons on my Kumho ASX (stock size) up here in Mass. and they are a world apart from the stock Dunlops. Much better in the rain and especially the snow, no problem plowing through several inches of snow. They are due to be replaced this month (gotten real noisy and worn) and for the price they are a great value.
