Snowflakes: how wide? + tire questions

Are they 6 or 6.5in?

I just picked up a set of these to put on my P5 with MSP struts/springs. I'm looking at 205/45/17, will that be fine? Got a better idea?

Should be fine. Don't know about the msp struts, but you don't start running into trouble until you have an 2xx/45/18. But personally I think 205/40 looks best on a 17

I'm only worried about rubbing. If you saw the rims I picked up, you'd see I don't care about looks. lol

i had 6.5s on and they rub on the outside against the fenders (only in back tho). switched to 6s with the same tires (205/50/r16) and it stopped.

lol sorry, ppl call snowtires snowflakes here sometimes.

anyways, my 6.5inch rims rubbed with the above mentioned tires. the problem was the width not the height, I suspect that the 17's you are asking about will be ok, thought I have never tried that size.

Lol, so no one knows how wide they are, and what sizes will not rub on a p5 with msp suspension?

I have the 17" mazda 3 snowflakes on my P5 and they are just fine. I've had them on the car for 2 years now and no problems except it's very expensive to buy the snow tires for that rim! If I knew how to put a photo on here I could show you what they look like.

Thanks, but no sweat. I figured out the sizing, and pics won't help, these are super-knarly ghetto rims (cheap, dinged up matt black paint job).

Just verifying that 215/40/17's on MZ3 rims on a P5 with MSP spring/struts will NOT rub? I looked under my car with OEM rims/tires, and there's about 1/2-3/4in between the tire and strut. Is the offset on the MZ3 rims different enough that a 215 won't rub?

It looks like 215/45's fit, but 215/40 is the better diameter. Will the 40 be a big difference in ride?

Thanks for the speedy replies, guys. I ordered the 215/40, hope they're ok. Federal 595's, btw.

Sweet! Got them on this morning, $90. That's $325 out the door all said and done, pretty good price, I think.

I only drove 20 miles so far; I didn't even check the air pressure, which I can tell is at noob settings, 32 or some nonsense. Tread is squirmy, of course, but they are significantly quieter than the worn 912's. Sweet. And they look hot, pretty wide for this little car, and fill out the wheel well much better. The black rims are pretty ghetto, but whatever.

Oh, it's the fattest rim protector EVER. If you love yur rims, these are for you.
