For the 2006 model year, the popular Mazda MX-5 received its second redesign since it was first launched in 1989. For 2007, the third-generation MX-5 Miata adds minor interior features and offers two new exterior colors. The heart of the MX-5 remains a highly-responsive MZR-series 2.0-liter, 170-horsepower (at 6,700 rpm) powerplant. The 2006 MX-5 has a light and compact engine, featuring chain-driven double overhead camshafts, lightweight fly wheel, variable intake valve timing, electronically controlled port fuel injection and coil-on-plug ignition. Revving smoothly to its 7,000 rpm redline, the 2.0-liter engine delivers 140 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm for driving exhilaration throughout the rev range.

The convertible top remains the very model of simplicity: from the driver or passenger seat, release a single windshield-header latch and just push the top backwards. Thats it no bulky or cumbersome boot or tonneau covers, and no need to get out of the car.
Enhancements to the 2007 MX-5 include:

  • New power retractable hardtop model (specific product information will be available closer to launch)
  • Added one-touch power-down passenger window (in addition to one-touch driver window) to Sport models with Convenience Package as well as Touring and Grand Touring models

MAZDA 5
All new for 2006, The MAZDA 5 is a three-row, six-passenger multi-activity vehicle that drives like a sports car but efficiently transports people and equipment like a large SUV. MAZDA 5 demonstrates Mazdas infusion of stylish, insightful and spirited vehicles. The 2007 MAZDA 5 adds a new Grand Touring Package and exterior colors.
The MAZDA 5 is powered by an all-aluminum 2.3-liter, four-cylinder MZR series engine, producing 157 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque, shared with the popular MAZDA 3 . Inside, the MAZDA 5 offers a flexible seating arrangement and a flowing wedge-shaped body with solid proportions, defining the vehicle as unmistakably Mazda. The MAZDA 5 s large sliding doors and low floor allow for fluid ingress and egress, and a one-touch walk-in mechanism offers easy access to the third-row seats.

Introduced in 2006, the MAZDASPEED 6 is the fastest accelerating, best handling and most advanced sport sedan Mazda has ever built. The heart of the MAZDASPEED 6 is the MZR 2.3 DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) Turbo engine. Turbocharged and intercooled, the 2.3L aluminum I-4 engine produces 274 horsepower. Taking advantage of the inherent cooling and efficiency of direct gasoline injection, Mazda applied a fast-spooling single-scroll turbo to supply up to 15 psi of boost, resulting in 280 lb-ft torque at only 3000 rpm.
To accommodate the powerful engine, an Active Torque-Split All-Wheel Drive system is utilized, capable of delivering up to 50 percent of the power to the rear wheels. From the outside, the MAZDASPEED 6 is easily distinguished from MAZDA 6 sedans due to extensive use of unique body panels, including front fenders, front and rear fascias, hood, grille, rear spoiler and side sills.
Once inside the cockpit, drivers will find exclusive sport bucket front seats, a standard BOSE audio system, scuff plates with stainless-steel inserts and aluminum pedals. The MAZDASPEED 6 also features an available Advanced Keyless Entry and Start System that allows vehicle entry and ignition without handling the key fob.
Completely new for 2006, there are no significant changes made to the 2007 MAZDASPEED 6.

my personal 2008 line up might just include a CX-7 amd a MS3...although i just can't see myself without my P5!! :)
my 96 explorer will be @ 200K by then so the CX-7 looks like a nice "upgrade" for me!

Well, b/c the MS3 hasnt been officially release in America, they can't add it to the line up list. I know its already out in Japan and its on the web sites but it's listed under upcoming for both. It's considered an 07 model but yet they are reluctant to even tell us more than what's posted on thier sites. If only we had an inside man at mazda corprate. Time to go undercover!

A moment of silence.........for the best looking minivan.

MPV - RIP

So...I guess the RX-8 will still be the powerless, gas guzzler it's been then.

I believe Mazda is working out the bugs that they are having with the MS6 before launch. Plus I believe they are worried about making sure that its drivetrain is up to snuff. They might be worried about launching another problem child.

So, I guess the CX-9 is replacing the MPV as the "big" Mazda people-hauler?

hopefully they're deciding that a proper hood scoop is appropriate for the MS3.

hopefully also they're deciding that 17x8 wheels are FTW, that 18x7 wheels are FTL, and that crash bolts or negative front camber adjustability are super-cool. ;)

Sad for US, but not for Japan... check this out:

No that's what I call the best looking minivan around...

And seriously... with CX-7 and CX-9... who needs that rebadged Ford Escape anymore? Seems to be that a new Tribute will just eat away at the CX-7 market. What Ford needs to do is rebadge the CX-7 as the new Escape.

And if they really want to make an impact with B-series truck (the tired but reliable rebadged Ford Ranger), how about giving us the real 4 door crew cab version that you can get elsewhere in the world.

I totally agree on the Tribute. Other than the Hybrid (do they have a hybrid Tribute?) what is the point?

That new MPV looks like a really nice van. I think the current model is more attractive, but that new one's really sweet inside.

wow so the mazdaspeed6 isnt exclusive to 2006 model year? cool.

My guess is that the Mazdaspeed6 is still in the model year because they have so many left at the ports. Obviously there will have to be some subtle changes to it for 07, but the dealers still have so many on their lots that an 07 model year seemed inevitable since the start. Mazda really did a terrible job of marketing these vehicles and is now paying the price for it. I sell these Mazda's and know that on my lot, I have 5 left from an original 8. I've sold all 3! WHAT A RIDE!

In addition to the bad marketing, and I am sorry to say this as I wish that it weren't true, but the 28K MS6 has not rated well w/others in it's class.
Several months ago, R&T said that it's driving experience doesn't live up to it's numbers, and was not a best buy in class either.
CR has consistantly rated the "6" (American built) as a notch below the "3" (Japaneze built) in reliability. To me, this seems consistant w/other Japaneze (and German) builders that have put assmbly lines on American soil.
As an American, this saddens me, and makes me wonder why we can't seem to do at least an equal job of quality control as (some) other countries?

You should ask members here who actually OWN the MS6 for the "real deal"...Instead of believing a couple of car mags that have a mile long list of unsatisfied subscribers...
