smokes like a chimmeny! HELP

long story short, I installed my ATP downpipe yesterday and the car WILL NOT stop smoking. Anytime i am stopped it just billows out smoke, its even smoking a bit from under the hood. I'm down in Miami, fl and know that with the stock exhaust on it will barly smoke if even at all. So how can I get this fixed from mazda? anyone getting their turbo's replaced with dp and exhaust on? this car is really starting to agrivate me! any help would be greatly appreciated.

then leave the downpipe on and have them replace the turbo. The seals are bad and thats that. it should be a known problem by now. They rejected me and i ended up just getting the ATP turbo and guess what, no smoke. But the problem with that is i have blown my engine so there is no real solution. Put the stock DP on and get rid of the car is my advice, because i was in the same situation and that was a year ago and i lost tons of money trying to correct mazdas bad turbo situation.

jorge you have seen my car and it is at the dealer right now "AS IS" getting the turbo replaced and the VVT fixed. gimme a call dude you got my number.

same here!(bj)

if you want it to smoke with the stock dp turn on the car, wait 2 minutes then drive aroung the block once or twice and then park the car and don't turn it off, it'll smoke guaranteed. the turbo is bad when i changed mine for the ATP it stoped smoking.

...but then it wont smoke! and they will tell me they couldnt reproduce the problem and send me on my way.....

this right here is what bothers me. you admit that the downpipe is the cause of your problem, but yet you want the dealer to replace the turbo? it would be like driving the car without and oil in it, and wanting the dealer to replace the engine. you may not have known that was going to cause a problem, but the fact is, YOU caused the problem. if you want them to fix anything, then yes, return it to stock. if it no longer smokes, thats not there problem. at that point, the car works as designed, with the PARTS IT CAME WITH.

no he said it smoked befor but not as often and as bad, the seals are bad on these turbos regardless of modifications, i should no mines in the shop getting replaced as i type this, the DP just makes it more noticable because the cat is no longer there.

correct... the only reason that is SEEMS to be smoking now is b/c you have just removed the two MONSTROUS cats. the car still smokes with the stock DP but it seems that it doesn't as much b/c the cats are sucking everything up... TURBO IS BAD REPLACE IT!!!

(scratch)

um...but you said that if you take the DP off it will not smoke...

and i'm not saying the seals AREN'T bad, but most people only have problems once they remove the cat...

....correct; which means the cats/mufflers are only masking the problem leaving the car suseptible(sp?) to haveing clogging issues in the cats due to the cats eating the burning oil...potentially created excess back pressure and straining the motor....

or the replacement of the stock exhaust has less back-pressure to hold the seals in place, causing the excessive blow-by to occur.

seals are bad..
a change in backpressure should not lead into seal failure..
took mine to fail with just a simple catback...

Welcome to the club bro!

Same problem w/ me. I wanted to take the damn dp off but the newfound power got me thinking. that is why I bought a GT3071R so it will leak no more. During, idle, rev it to about 1500RPM and the smoke will go away. That is what I do when i'm stopped at a light. After the turbo upgrade, all should be well.
