Hello,

Is anyone else having an issue with the SCBS engaging inappropriately? I've had this car less than a year, and this feature kicks in when I either turn to go up my driveway to enter my garage, or lately (and more worrisome) when I'm turning to get onto the freeway. It happens sporadically, but lately once a week. I've taken it to the dealer 3 times for this issue now, and they "can't replicate the problem."

A bit of history: this first happened about 2 months after I got the car. Shortly after the first occurrence, I had a "SCBS malfunction forward SCBS disabled" error message, which was seen in the computer. The dealer said they checked the system, reset the codes, and all was fine. Since then, the SCBS has inappropriately engaged approximately 10 more times (4 in August alone), for which I've taken 2 more trips to the dealership for diagnosis (only to be told the same thing). They keep saying there aren't any error codes in the computer, but would there be error codes for a hypersensitive safety feature that's kicking in?

I started taking daily video footage during the turn when I get on the freeway, and I've captured it twice in the past 8 days. I guess my question is: what can I do about this? The dealership just blows me off. Should I go to an independent mechanic? Should I speak to a lemon law attorney?

You probably have a sensor aim issue... my '15 w/SCBS has never engaged on me

I would be looking for a different dealer service dept

How does it feel when it kicks in? I feel a growling sound on my 2016 manual when on an incline then adding gas and releasing the clutch. This is my 9th manual car in 20 years of driving so I don't think thats it

It is kind of a "growling" sound, but there's also a noticeable jerk and slowing of the car. I have an automatic, so no clutch issues here.

Contact Mazda,,,, if you showed your dealer the video of it engaging falsely and they say nothing is wrong, get another dealer to look at it!
