Anyone put smaller diameter wheels on there MSP? I'm looking to put 15" or 16" wheels on for race tires. What's the offsets people have been using?

-Alan

I don't have an MSP but I do have an MP3. I have run 225/50-15 Yokohama A008 Rs II on 7x15 Fittipaldi wheels at an autocross in FSP. There did not seem to be any clearance issues but I can not tell you what the offset is on those wheels. I got them 10 years ago for my MX-6. Does that help any?

hmm- my dad was forced to put 16" steelies on for his MSP, while my MP3 has 15" for winter.

cant remember why he had to get 16's, but they were expensive-- discount tire said its an odd size

dont the MSP have larger brakes? if so that would explain why they might recommend 16".

heres what discount tire says:

Our fitment guide shows optional winter sizes for your vehicle that require a smaller wheel. Please note that these tires will not work with your stock wheels: 14" 15"

hmm so it looks like the smallest rim i can go is a 16"

I was hoping to be able to fit a 15" in there since more tire sizes are available and cheaper too

anyone ever try some older mx-6 wheels?

-Alan

You can fit 15's on there just fine. Don't believe what stores tell you, they usually don't have a f'n clue. I got 14's on my mp3. The speed here in town has 195/65/15's on for winter, and the caliper still has space left. Doubt 14's would fit on the speed though. I want to try it though.

I was gonna try a 15X6.5" wheel with 40mm offset with a 205/50/15. newf...you think u can find out what that MSP is running in offset and rim width?

Hey everyone,

Here is the info. on the stock wheel:

size: 17 x 7JJ
p.c.d.: 5 x 114.3
offset: 55 mm

Here is the info. on the stock tire:

215/45/17 - 24.5" overall diameter

I would not go lower than a 45 mm offset if you are planning on using a 15 x 6.5 wheel. A good combo. would be a 15 x 6.5 Volk TE-37 with a 45 mm offset and 225/50/15 A032R tires (24.0" o.d.).

Cheers,

-Shawn

I ran 15's on my MSP for winters.. No problem whatsoever.

Go ahead with 15". That's what I'm using for winter tires: 195/65R15. It's 1.5% smaller than the original 215/45R17 we have.

Tire Rack says 15" works, specific 15" wheels that fit: ASA JS1, ASA JS6, SE Fox 2, SE Fox 5. Dunno about the steelies. I'm thinkin' I'm going to try to find a set of P5 wheels for winter...

i put honda 14" steelies on my DX one day, and OMG! the caliper clearance was soo close to touching the wheel. 15" should be fine for the MSP.

why would a wheel not clear the rear if it cleared the front?
