k, well i can't help it but my car is burning some oil... i filled it up with oil like 500 miles ago and i look today and its nearly empty... i had to put some in so, i don't know wats going on... any ideas, ima take it to the dealership soon, i jus need something to tell them so they can get an idea on wat to look for...

also, it does smell like oil is burning when i pop the hood... my gasket is fine aswell... is it my valves??? bad combustion??? i dunno... it started doing this, i never did it before... i bought the car fine, changed my oil and everything was normal, till now...

thx...

mine uses a lot of oil as well... I think usage specs are like 1qt per 1000 miles, but i would have them take a look at it. I use more than 1qt every 1000 miles, so i'm constantly checking it.

These engines do use more oil than a normal car, so its most likely somewhat normal, just keep an eye on it check for any leaks. Its possible your turbo could be on the way out and blowing out tons of oil out the exhaust or something. Have the dealer fix it!

Mine has started using about a quart every 1500 miles. It never used to burn a drop, but boost starts to take a toll after a while.

my friend told me to check my oil alot cuz of my turbo... my car pass emissions, and my exhaust has no black soot on it... so i think its jus the oil being burned normally...

im still taking it to the dealership this coming saturday... i have 47,700 miles so i still got factory warranty...

I'm always checking my oil. Everyday it gets lower. Not even when it's ran hard just driving pretty normal and the oil gets lower.

I just bought a Qt. yesterday.Guess it's kinda good though. Never really gives the old oil a chance to stay in the motor that long when it's being burnt up.

Right after i get an oil change though, it takes like 2weeks-3 weeks for me to notice any oil dissapearing.

wat kind of oil do yall use??? im using the castrol partial syntec 5w 20...

If you guys are "using/burning/losing" oil you need to get that checked ASAP. your engine should not be losing oil.

There is a leak somewhere ...

gasket, oil filter not tight enough, pan seal, drain plug with wrong o-ring, turbo, pcv ... check inside the walls of your intake.

Find it before we can follow the oil trace.

i kno i have no leaks. just got a brand new turbo so it can't be that. It's happened since I had the car so it's nothing new. I just had my intake off while i was getting the turbo so it's not that.

I'm not worried about anything, I'd just like to kno why. It's been burning oil since it was practically stock.

I think it's cuz i drive in 3rd alot.

i get that oil smell too... but i have found zero leaks. i have not been burning oil either. i check my oil level once a week and have found it to be normal... even after 4000miles of driving to my next oil change.

Just a thought since I have been putting about 1/2 quart about every 500miles or so consistantly for the past 2 years. For the guys that are not burning oil do you have a Turbo timer and or oil cooler or catch can? They would all make a significant difference I would think.

I've never had any leaks and always warm-up before driving and cool down before shutting down.

yeah, i have a turbotimer. some people say it's not necessary as the turbo is water-cooled. but still, i like to know that my turbo is slowing down/cooling down before it's shut off. peace of mind really. as hot as it gets down here in SoCal, i wish i had a vented hood.

ok, i got rid of my 5w 20 oil... got the castrol partial syntech 5w 30... the ppl that changed my oil last time used 5w 20 and it started smelling like that... so ima use 5w 30 and see if it still happens... if it does, than its time to go to the shop...

i hope this works...
