SLS Performance Front Motor Mount

hm. i understand the lighter weight and air flow but i fail to see the performance factor. (dunno)
um, hellloooo. You get better performance through the fact that they weigh less and are more aerodynamic. Man, you really have to spell it out for these n00bz :p

I got the SLS front mount installed and took the car for a spin. There is a lot of vibration when at idle with the AC on. Without AC there is still a slight increase in vibes, but I don't think it's too bad. Hopefully it settles down a little after it is worn in.

I hope these things don't vibrate too much. Most of the ppl at the beginning of the thread seemed to feel that they transmitted only slightly more vibration than stock. As the thread goes on, though, it sounds like they are a little harsher.

Well, my side and front will show up tomorrow. We'll see how they feel...

Just recieved my front and side mounts. Will do install this weekend as long as the weather is good. Will post back with feedback. Will try to remember to take pictures as well.

it's pretty bad at first but after like a week its not. gotta let the mount break in probably. most of the later people probably didnt let it break in before commenting,

Mine hasn't worn in at all, I have only driven it once since the install. I'm going on a road trip tomorrow, hopefully the 1000+ mile trip speeds up the break in.

no they get better because the mount gets a lil softer. just like working in a baseball glove.

I installed the SLS front and side mounts last night. My other mounts are stock. There is definitely a noticeable increase in vibration, but only at idle. The vibration is perceivable through any contact point: steering wheel, seats, floor, but isn't strong enough to be annoying. If it vibrated like that through the whole rpm range while driving, it would be hard to deal with, though. There is always a compromise between performance and comfort, though.

The mounts perform wonderfully. My engine used to shake quite a bit when I started the car and I was getting a clutch chatter that would cause the engine to shake when starting off in first gear, especially in cold weather. The mounts eliminated the clutch chatter, so take-offs are nice and smooth. I also spun the tires on wet pavement hard in 1st gear. This usually resulted in pretty violent wheel hop, but no more.

The mounts were packaged well and the quality looks pretty good. All of the necessary hardware was included. It would have been nice to have a simple diagram of the mount assembly. It was easy enough to figure out, but it would have saved some time in figuring out which existing hardware needed to be re-used, where the washers go, etc... I am also curious what the torque specs are for the different nuts and bolts. I tightened everything to about 30-35 ft/lbs and used loc-tite on all the threads.

All in all, SLS is a good way to go if you are having problems with your stock mounts or just want a stiffer mount to limit engine movement.

i had one. sls told me the bushing wasnt pushed in all the way...yet anything i did it would go in any further

How to install bushings:

P1010034.webp
P1010036.webp
P1010037.webp
P1010038.webp

Use some wd-40 if you can't push them in all the way!

If you have a gap after installing you can install a washer on each side of the bushings with a center diameter that will go around the bushing pin.

It came after i I installed it. When I first got it, it was in pretty good.

You said anything u did it would or would not go in any further?

This should be fixed right?

An update - vibration is down to a more comfortable level now that the mounts have had a chance to break in. I don't think you can achieve a better balance of overall stiffness (to reduce engine movement) and daily comfort.
