New Mazda owner. Got a 2010 CX-7, 4 cylinder auto. When I let off the gas to coast to a light, I notice a very slight lurch/surge as the car is coasting. Happens nearly every time, but it's so minor that I'm wondering if it's normal for turbocharged engines.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks.

welcome to the mazda world :)

you are talking about slowing down right? is it possible its just the tranmission shifting down?

thanks, glad to be on here. i think your idea may well be right. i guess in most of the other automatics i've driven over the years, when slowing down (without breaking, just letting off the gas), the transmission down shifted without any noticeable change. with the 2010 cx-7 4-cylinder fwd, it's just enough that it catches my attention.

having said that, i love my cx-7.

Since I have 6 speed manual I might have another problem.
When I accelerate, especially on the 3rd gear, and let of the gas at around 3000 rpm the engine will "jerk". It only happens when engine is hot and when I lift the gas slightly (not entirely) It is pretty strong so that even passengers can notice that something is happened.

But as others have said it might be caused by down shift in your case. Does it happen when you switch to manual mode (I don't even know if mazda has it..?)
