SkyActiv-X Review, glimpse of possibly what to expect in future CX-5s

Of course we don't. When VW sold the 2015 diesels that had been fixed, in late 2017 (there were something like 1500ish, IIRC?) they had 5+ buyers cash in hand for EACH ONE vying to own one.

At what price, that is, what discount? [Hint: 15-25%] Might have a lot to do with the demand.

Another fun, basically meaningless statistic: 1500 units is about 0.0087% of 2017 US auto sales.

How much you think Mazda lops off their ONE year old "new old stock" like 2017's?

Hint: This is my local dealership https://www.superiormazda.com/new/M...ville-ar-552e0cd20a0e0ae70c244e036e511ef1.htm

Looks like about an 8% discount, and we are only 2 months removed from that being current year-model, so let's look back at a 2016...

over 20% off.

And they still can't sell it, lol!

Bet Mazda wishes they could get 5 customers on every 2 year old model rotting on their lot at 20%+ off...

Oh, and before you ask, my area is one of the most economically robust in the nation, so it's not bad economy woes. Constantly winning awards for livability, etc.

Like every other manufacturer with leftover stock. Why are you bitching about Mazda?

Because they can't deliver like they lead their customers to believe. Over. And over. And over.
They deliver elsewhere in the world, just not in USA. Other markets like Japan, Australia lap them up as they deliver.

America has Trump now with its America first campaign. (nana)

Yet the problems of Mazda continue to exist

I think what Xtrailman may have meant was that with the America first campaign Americans should be prioritising buying cars either from American manufacturers or foreign owned brands manufactured in the US. As CX5's are made in Japan the criteria would not be met. This is how I would strictly interpret an America first policy. If I've misjudged Trump's intentions I'm willing to be corrected.

When I was with Chevy, it was common to see 20%-25% off of Silverado's when the new year models came out. Hell, a couple of months ago GMC was doing 25% off of 2018 Sierra's...when they had just come out. And it's very common for a dealer to randomly get stuck with a couple of old age units

That's the way I took it. It's kind of silly though considering how automakers have been global for decades. Most Americans are blissfully unaware of where their cars are assembled and where the parts come from, they just make assumptions based on the brand name.

I've met lots of people who say they don't trust American-made cars, and they go and buy Honda CR-Vs and Pilots which are assembled here and are near the top of the list of American-made parts content. The best selling Toyotas here are also assembled in the US using a majority of American-made parts.

The converse is also true. I remember a comment from somebody on another forum last year who said the main reason why he chose a Chrysler Pacifica minivan over the Sienna and Odyssey was wanting to support American jobs. Too bad for him the Pacifica is assembled in Canada while the Sienna and Odyssey are assembled in the US.

Perhaps he was just laughing at us (nana)

One could argue that American Firsters should reward Mazda for commiting with Toyota to build the huge plant in the US.

But I think you have it wrong. The America First rhetoric isn't about policy or economics, its xenophobia and rabble rousing.

Ding ding ding on Xenophobia.

Boy this is getting way off topic.

Here you go!
