ski racks for the p5

I tried looking for mighty mounts at my local REI and their manual said they were available for the stock rack so i just had to buy new Qclips. It works great!

I'd recommend the Saris rack. I simply removed the stock factory...just takes some muscle, a screwdriver, and a socket. Call Saris or e-mail them and they'll tell you the parts you need. Several dealers in the Chicago area. I have the load bars, a couple of trays for my bikes, and I spent the $$$ on the fairing to cut down on wind noise. Looks sharp on the P5. The website is http://www.sarisproducts.com. Good luck!

I'm be weary of them claiming you jsut need to buy taht and they'll "work on factory racks" in reality, there's like50 different versions of mighty mounts. YES indeed there's a version for our cars' stock rack, I can't recall which, though.

As for the rack itself, that is about a 5yr old style that while functional is not as sleek or easy to use as the new units. Yakima is great stuff, though I've never had a problem with any of mine.

The one thing you'll need to be careful of with whatever rack you get (yak/hollywood/thule/saris, etc) if it mounts to the stock crossbars isthat the factory rack is located kinda far back and thusly it's liekyl to snag boards/skis on your hatch if you open it fast, so be careful and check for clearane before oyu go flipping it up.

i use the thule 6 pr ski rack and the thule big-mouth clamps to attack rack to factory bars. work well, just have to make sue you have enough clearence when you open hatch as you said before......

I've got the Yakima Big PowderHound (6pr skis/4snowboards) ($80) attached onto my factory rack with Yakima 12V (V for vertical) Might Mounts ($20). works great.

You're the reason I have it!!!!!(bow)
I was looking for a setup for some time, when I ran across a thread here. Someone was looking for a way to mount up a rack to the factory bars, and I'm pretty sure it was you who responded with the 12v mightymounts. (bow)
