has anyone had experience with this woofer? It's $65 on woot.com today and I just want to add a little something. Reviews are good and ppl are saying its easy to install. How hard is it to install to factory cd player? I was thinking either this or buy a used msp amp/woofer/enclosure. Which would you recommend? I wouldnt be able to get use the msp stuff yet because I dont have a aftermarket receiver. Thanks for your input

Baicly its going to be a midbass driver, not a subwoofer.
But for $65 bucks your not going to do better as it has the amplifier too.
I think I'd keep the $65 though :)

I would much prefer spending $200 on a nice little 10" sub in a simple box with an seperate 120 watt or more amplifier. Something like an RE10.

You need to take a that to the battery terminal. I just installed my amp 2 wks ago. There is gromet you can pull out, cut it, run the pwr thru the firewall and reinsert the gromet on the driverside of the engine bay. It is almost directly behind the battery and under the sway bar on the firewall. Well that is where it is on my P5.

I'll try to get a pic of it for ya this week.

Bump for help! I received the sub in the mail today. Will I have to rip out my seats and carpet to get this installed?

I have a couple SUPER NEWB questions, so PLEASE bare with me:

1.) In pics 1, 2 and 3, you see the illumination and Rem wires. I'm not sure yet, but if the wires they are supposed to connect to are not the same types of connection, do I just snip these and solder them?

2.) The blue wire in pic 2 says "REMO". The sub says I'm supposed to connect the sub's wire that says "REM" to the receiver. Is REMO and REM the same thing?

3.) In pic 4, you see the black wire with a ring/fork end. The black wire of wiring harness that connects to the car is just a simple wire. Do I just snip this fork off and solder?

4.) In the 5th pic, you see the red and white RCA outlets. I believe these are for the amps. My sub says if I have an aftermarket receiver, connect it to the RCA. Is that the right outlet? Will the receiver giving power to my speakers (because it might think that the amp is powering my speakers)?

Thank you for your patience with me!

Yep, they are not always used so they come with dip-s*** proof connectors. These wires carry voltage so if you just left them dangling with no protection, they will short out and nuke something.

You got it

Whatis the ringed wire from, the head unit or the sub?
This is a ground wire. For the sub, screw it to the floor once you scape off the paint and are certain your not about to put a hole in a gas line.
if its the deck, then either ground it like the sub wire, or snip it and use the matching ground wire of the adapter hanres.

The head unti will power the speakers and supply signal to your sub via the RCA's at the same time.

Thank you 1sty! You are a savior! To connect the sub to the RCA and the positive terminal, will I have to rip out the carpet? How are people connect it?

You do have to power the subwoofers amplifier directly to the battery. The simplest way to do this is an 8 guage amplifier wiring kit. You do not have to remove the seats to run 8 guage in a protege.
Just remove the side sill panels and then lift the carpet and tuck the wire.

Ok. Do people normally do it on the driver's side since battery is driver's side? How do you remove the side sills?

Sorry its been a couple of days. Here are the pics of the gromet I went thru. If you pull this gromet out (pinch it and pull from the engine bay) you can push wire thru the firewall. It will be under the dash on the drivers side. I would recommend punching a small hole in the gromet with a knife and running the pwr wire thru the hole. Then put the gromet back in place. Be careful not to cut the wires already in the gromet. I ran all the wire 1st before putting the gromet back in place and had to cut a sllit from center to edge to get the wire in it. I don't recommend doing that.

This is what I did and what I recommend but can't be held responsible if something goes wrong. Good luck.

Sorry about the crappy images but all I have at work is MSPaint and it wouldn't save as jpgs.

What are these "side sills" you speak of?

THANK YOU iplead!!! That helps A LOT! I'll be installing tomorrow! The side sills are the plastic things on the door jam. But regardless, where did you tuck your power cable?
