'06 Mazda 3
Ok i will try to make this short. Owned a '03 MP5 and sold it (god i miss that car). Anways, in a few days i am picking up my new '06 3i. Now my question is is that it has the SAT button for sirius. Going from the crappy ford taurus i am in now to the new car, i am losing my Direct connection for my sirius. Anyone know of any AUX inputs or a Sirius unit that connects directly to the factory one for less and 330 bucks?

surf ebay... saw a couple units on thier that sold for less then 2bills... but as far as i know you need the "factory"connection to get it to work...

I saw the auxmod, that is exactly what i need, but on the '06 that i am getting there is a media button instead of a tape/md button? anyone know if it will still work. I would like to keep using my plug and play sirius receiver and my ipaq for my mp3's, so the auxmod would be great, but not sure if it will work.

auxmod will work through the "media" button on the 06, i just installed one this weekend.

Cool, i am ordering one now. Any tips on how to get that trim piece off without breaking it? i got the mazda tech manual on how to install the sirius and it show how to take it off, but i dont want to break it. Any tips on how to get it off would be great.

open the glove box, pull it out and towards the drivers side from where the glove box was... should start to pull out you need to be gently firm... lol its not that bad really, have had mine off and on about a dozen times now... then you just need to remove 2 screws and your head unit slides out... no extraction tools required...

Just ordered it. I wish this was out about a year ago, b/c i spent about 260 bucks on the tape adapter for my P5 so i could listen to stuff with the tape adapter. then i sold the P5 a couple of months later, now i am buying a 3. So if this works i will be happy as hell (as long as i dont break anything). Also i am going to try and hardwire my PNP sirius tuner power to the back of the cigarette lighter and fabricate a holding bracket for it so i dont have drill holes. if anyone tried to hardwire their power to the back of the lighter or have any info on that, that would be great too.

i'm a n00b when it comes to installing car audio, the auxmod was my first install where i wasn't supervised by someone who knew what they were doing and it was really easy to do. the mazda three is like a lego car all the pieces just snap together. i was amazed how easy it was to take out the center console/head unit/glove box. now i just need to figure out where i can hide wires on the very top of the dash for the screen to my drive and play.

you could run them under the main dash peice and out one of the vents???? i have seen that done on others rides...

thats what i was gonna try to do... i toyed with the idea of drilling a hole somewhere but just am confident in how it would look.

under the dash and out the vent is probably the best way, only a small small bit of wire would show.
