Sirius Antenna Installation

I am about to install a factory Sirius setup in my MS3. I was thinking of the possibility of putting the antenna inside the rear spoiler which is made of plastic instead of sticking it to the roof. I think it should be possible to put it inside through the 3rd brake light hole and snake the cable down the rubber tubes to the main body and from there down to the right wheel well for attachment to the receiver.

Questions:
1) Anyone tried this? If so, did it work?
2) Is the metallic paint going to reduce the signal level to the antenna?
3) Is the plastic of the spoiler going to reduce the signal level?
4) How much of the interior am I going to have to remove to get the wire from the top of the hatch down to the wheel well?
5) Am I out of my mind?

I have installed a few XM/Sirius antennas under bodypanels in fiberglass cars like the Lotus Elise. I just stuck it in the rear trunk under the trunk lid and it worked great.. As long as metal is not above the antenna it shuld work fine...

Well, my attempt failed. There are no openings in the spoiler big enough to get the antenna inside. It is hollow, but no holes big enough. Oh well, I put it on the roof just behind the radio antenna.

You could try getting one of those shark fin antennas.

I believe I read that it has enough space to also house a Sirius antenna...
