Not sure how many guys are using them but I thought I would pass on this little bit of info. When I was in Canadian Tire a few months ago buying new bulbs I was just talking to the dude working there about how crappy these lights were for lasting. He informed me that the bulbs have a 1 year warranty on them and if they burn out before the year is up take the bulb and receipt in to the store and they'll replace them for free. One of my bulbs burnt out early so I remembered what I was told took it in to CT and left with new bulb in hand no questions asked for FREE.

(eek2) !!!!

Well to late for me now, just received my HID kit by mail.
The way i saw it : 4 halogen bulbs/year = 140$/year
HID kit = 150$ once

But if i had informed myself, it would have been :
4 halogen bulbs/year = FREE ! (shocked)

Well, goes to show its always good to read the fine print on stuff you buy !
Long live (canada) TIRE !

But anyways, thank you for the info, i'll pass it on !

HID is worth it in the end

better output, and you dont' have to hassle with driving around with a burned out headlight once a month

Funny thing is...

I bought silverstars low beam bulbs last year in january, and 1 week ago one of them blew up..Well I thought so...the day later, it worked again! Think of a loose ground. Anyway, if a bulb lasts 1 year in this car, you are lucky! (LowBeams cuz high and fogs are pretty good for now!!!)

Make sure the metal clip holds the bulb firmly. Mine was bent and the bulb would lose contact (the ground) and go out.

silverstars....
i have two extra sets that i only keep for emergency just incase my HID's crap out...

great info though... thanks for sharing... cuz i failed to read the back label also

Yeah, Silverstars have short life on our cars.

I 've bought some Nokya bulbs about six months ago from Ebay.
To my surprise, these Nokya bulbs are still working very well.
Maybe those of you who are looking for bulbs can consider this brand if you are not looking into HID coversion.

Goes both ways just like all else. I have had my car since Jan 04. I have gone through 1, count'em ONE set in how many years now? 5. And I drive at least one way to work in the dark every day so, not really sure what everyone elses deal is with these.

I turn on my headlights just after I turn on the car, day or night. I went through 3 sets of Silverstars in one year. Recently I replaced the ground terminal to my battery. I also replaced my low beams and fogs with Hella bulbs I got at Advance auto. So far they've given me better luck. Unfortunately I also hadn't read the fine print on the Silverstars. I have an early model P5 so maybe the late models were less prone to this problem. I did read in a thread on Grassroots Motorsports that the headlight wiring on the P5's was thin. Which lowers the resistance and makes the bulbs bright, but whenever the AC cycles or something else creates a small surge, then they get overpowered. Generally the drivers side goes out first because the wiring is shorter.

I jiust got the firs one (1) low beam out after 5 YEARS!!

Wooow am I surprised !!! I started doing some research and find out all the issues people have with the life on the bulbs ... I gues I've been lucky : )

1st. bulb replacement in 5 years ... (dance)
