How hard were those to get off? I need to repaint mine pretty badly

You have to take all four interior door panels off first. For the two front handles, in addition to two bolts a side that secure the handle to door, you have to undo a metal clip that's shaped like a square and a locking clasp securing the opening rod. For the rear handles, there are two bolts per side as well. But in order to get to the back bolt, you need undo three screws to the opening mechanism.
