Silver Build

BTW, these wheels are on closeout at Tire Rack. 16s in silver are only $89 a wheel! I'm seriously thinking about getting them. If I don't like the silver I can Plastidip em.

EDIT - OUCH, $90 shipping for these.

I too installed H&R springs on my silver 2 also, and i absolutely love them. Honestly i wish i could go a hair lower, but the way they are now i have never bottomed out yet, and ive gone over speed bumps too.

Great job! Those look absolutely amazing. I was checking those wheels out myself as well, but in the 15" size and black. I love how far the spokes are carried out to the rim edge...it makes the wheel look larger. After seeing your photos I'll be considering 16's as well now I think. The only thing I don't love about those is the weight....definately not bad, but for the price there are lighter options available (though none that look nearly as good IMO).

Eyeballs, you should go for the assetto gara 15s if you're still debating. I bet it looks damn good in 15. The lines and dimensional quality of the assetto gara design really complements the shape of the body on the 2, and I'd be surprised if a 15 doesn't look every bit as good as a 16 - but I think that will depend on ride height. I also noticed that the 15s they spec for the 2 have a +30 offset! That should look seriously hot on /50 series tires. Do it, do it!

I had serious buyer's remorse when I first bought the silver - I felt like the silver brought out the shape of the car the strongest, and I really liked that - but I was equally torn between the green, red, and aquatic blue - this coming from someone who's previous car was red, and our other car is yellow. Driving something really colorful just makes me smile for some reason. I was really kicking myself until I got the bronze wheels on. The bronze contrast/complement pushes the silver to an interesting place, and now I'm loving the silver, but I still get wistful when I see a green, blue or red 2...

+30 is definately lower than I want to go. I've actually been looking at the MB Weapons (15x7 +35) and thinking that's about as low as I'd want to go on offset for a 7" wheel. I'm probably not doing anything soon, but ideally I'd like to get the k4r's (15x7 +40 10.7 lbs). We'll see where the budget is when the time comes.

And FWIW I think the 2 looks best in silver, but I wanted a bright color and really like the green. Before this I've only owned silver, white, or black cars.

I really loved my MB Weapons, also known as A-Tech Erasers in Japan. They were in multiple wrecks, offs and other "oh s***" moments and held up nicely.

Keep in mind, if you're going to do any racing, a smaller offset may help increase your scrub radius. I don't think we have to fear having too much scrub radius on our cars due to the fact that we don't have enough power to induce torque steer. I haven't looked at our steering axis, or king pin angle, so everything I just said is a generalization, lol.

MB Weapons! That was one of my other choices - a spirited green 2 on mb weapons? I might have to beg you to trade me ^_^. I agree though, for a daily driver, I think +35 is pretty much max if you do any parallel parking with frequency. I do it constantly, and even with +37s I'm a hawk on that mirror when I park. K4rs I looked at for a long time, but I found that the spoke basket makes the wheel look smaller than it is, and I'm not so crazy about that...

I guess you weren't considering the RPF1's...they look super small. I've had those on my last three cars though...even found a used set that I used for daily driving (17x7.5 for only $500!). The weight and strength of those outweigh the "small" look for me, and I'd definately get a set if I found some used. I'm definately a function over form type.

How you liking those Comp-2s? I'm interested in the differences in the compound. I like that they cleaned up the sidewall compared to the original G-Force Sport.

GRM had good things to say in a brief review of the new g-force sports. I had the old ones on my previous DD (wrx fully swapped forester) and liked them, except that breakaway was eerily silent.

I wasn't too thrilled about my original G-Force Sports, but then again, it was the longest lasting tire I've purchased. Previous tires were RT615s, Z1 Sports and the Ecsta XS. I just put the Comp-2s on my dads Legacy and he seems to like em. I guess it wouldn't be too much of a risk for me to try em out since I work at a tire shop, haha.

You're not really comparing apples to apples though. The BFG's are a UHP tire, vs the others are max perf. tires geared for auto-x/track stuff. I ran the XS's on my miata for street/auto-x tires and loved 'em...but they are really were in a different league than the BFG's.

A very clean looking sidewall for sure. I'm liking them a lot. More than I thought I would - very grippy and the ride quality is excellent. A definite step up from the stock rubber. I'm definitely getting more road noise though, noticeably more than the stock tires. I still need an alignment, and at that point I'll be able to tell whether it's the tire compound/pattern, or the alignment that's generating the elevated noise. That's the only negative.

I also just got switched from my H&R springs to Racing Beat springs today. I'll post up pics and thoughts after a few more days of time with them.

Well yeah, that's why I said "then again". I know the G-Force Sports are great for a lot of people, however I was coming from daily driving UHP tires so really they felt rather limp and slippery. Now that I'm coming from the stock Yokos, I think the Comp-2s may feel amazing in comparison.

why did you switch?

H&Rs were too low for my area. I was scraping the chin A LOT. And, without proper dampers I was also bottoming out on the shocks pretty regularly due to the high amount of construction going on here right now. I didn't want to change, but had to.
