Sidemarkers.

hey initial........I see you here too.........I am in the Vancouver forum too....remember ?
I want my sidemarker to blink instead of staying on the whole time.....haha......we want opposite things........
Remember you to people you drive a MP3.......or esle everyone is gonna have a misunderstanding like in the vancouver forum....

Since I am typing......Anyone know how to make the P5 sidemarker blink ??

p5 sidemarker flashing

I got it to work very simply.

Cut the ground wire from the sidemarker bulb.

Run a wire from the ground wire of the sidemarker bulb to the flashing wire of the turnsignal bulb.

Tape all connections and tape unused ground wire that was cut.

haha.....you make it sound so easy.......But is it really that easy ?
So the ground wire you are talking about on the sidemarker is black...right ??
I am thinking what your saying now...........
I just dont get the TAPE UNUSED GROUD WIRE THAT WAS CUT.......I thought that ground wire went to the turnsignal bulb ??

Any better description

I got it to work very simply.

Cut the ground wire from the sidemarker bulb. (Measure BEFORE you cut with a voltmeter to make sure that the black wire is ground). Do not use the cut ground wire of the harness that goes to the car.

Run a wire from the ground wire of the sidemarker bulb and splice to the flashing wire of the turnsignal bulb (Measure with a voltmeter to make sure that you found the turnsignal wire)

Tape all connections and tape unused ground wire of the wire harness that goes to the car.

hey chuck.....I am planning to do my signals this weekend......
and I dont have a voltmeter you are talking about......any other alternatives ??
if you can, would you tell me what are the colours of the wires you splice and stuff ?? thanks in advance

Really no but

Like here you must have alot of cheap electronics stores that sell parts etc. so you can pick-up a voltmeter for very cheap.

But if not try a 12v lightbulb with two wires. One goes to ground of battery and the other to touch other contacts.
IF IT LIGHTS IT IS LIVE OR ON.
IF NOT IT IS (ground or not used or not on) (THIS IS THE DANGER, THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL).
Remeber to have all lights working and turnsignal flashing.

Couple of specific questions, ...

1) Does that make your bumper light blink OPPOSITE of the turn signal?
2) Did you wire the ground of the bumper light to the ground of the turn signal? i.e. spliced it AFTER the bulb?

DON'T DO IT ......YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND AND I DON"T WONT TO TAKE RESPONSIBLITY

IT Will blink the opposite of turnsignal when the lights are on and the same when the lights are off.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Here we go again

Cut the ground wire from the sidemarker bulb. (Measure BEFORE you cut with a voltmeter to make sure that the black wire is ground). Do not use the cut ground wire of the harness that goes to the car.

Run a wire from the ground wire of the sidemarker bulb and splice to the flashing wire of the turnsignal bulb (Measure with a voltmeter to make sure that you found the turnsignal wire)

Tape all connections and tape unused ground wire of the wire harness that goes to the car.

I will try to explain

Cut the ground wire from the sidemarker bulb. (Measure BEFORE you cut with a voltmeter to make sure that the black wire is ground).
Do not use the cut ground wire of the harness that goes to the car. TAPE IT AND DO NOT DO NOT USE IT!!!!!!

Run a wire from the ground wire of the sidemarker bulb THAT COMES FROM THE BULB and splice to the FLASHING WIRE of the turnsignal bulb (Measure with a voltmeter to make sure that you found the turnsignal wire) DO NOT DO NOT SPLICE IT TO THE GROUND BUT THE TURNSIGNAL WIRE.

Tape all connections and tape unused ground wire of the wire harness that goes to the car.

If you can't understand this forgot it!

I can't explain it any clearer!

bahaha omg, chuck is really friggin trying.omg, someone give him an ice cold coke. geez.

yes, late post.

i dont get it LMFAO, what i need you to do so i understand is go out rip off your side marker show the wires take a picture circle the wire and say run this wire to the singal wire up front show that wire take a picture circle it, and then i'll know what to do ;) lol.

wire

hey ........which kind of wire did u have to get to connect teh ground with the turnsignal wire............and where did u get it from

when i check the voltage, what is it suppose to be of teh turnsignal..............when i pop the hood and look at it, i see 1 black wire and 2 green ones (with grey/white spots here and there)......???

cuz i went to homedepot to ask them about 18 gauge wire, and tehy had a copper based wire and he siad i need something like pvc or something like that

okay, just use 18 or 16 gauge wire, and cut the ground on the sidemarkers, fish the new wire up to the turnsignals, cut away the sleeving, and tap that new wire into the green and black wire coming from the signals
