sickest exhaust ever!!!!

lol with my exhaust troubles I am having, this is kinda funny. I am about ready to run a pipe forward out the car instead of back, too cool the exhaust. (joke)

Mount the rear lip on the sideskirt?

But seriously, I don't know if I'd say sickest ever. I mean, what kind of bends did you have to make to get it to sit like that? I almost wonder if maybe you made the exhaust MORE restrictive?

Yeah it definately is not qualified to be the "sickest ever" considering everyone and their mother with an SRT-4 does the exact same thing...Ask him if thats where he got the idea from. Ive seen about 4 baboon ass red SRTs with the same type side exits around where i live.

The purpose of exhaust pipes are to carry the gases away from the engine bay, driver, etc. Straight pipes going out the back are the very best way. Now you can add cats, mufflers, resonators to alter the noise, pollution control, sound. Also restricting the exhaust flow has an effect on the engine and when done with some technical education it can be a good thing. Otherwise, some thing like side exit exhaust, it's just for show unless there is some kind of reason the exhaust can't go all the way in the back, due to some thing being in the way (?) It's personal opinion if you like the way this one looks. Another factor of exhaust release systems is the hot gas that comes out and that is why a lot of systems exit on the passengers rear side, because it's more common for the driver to get out and go to the trunk, which he/she would pass the exhaust if it was on the drivers side. It depends on the undercarriage which side makes more sense but the back rear should be chosen if it's an option. I notice a lot of cars with the exhaust pipe on the drivers side, I think that's probably due to them not thinking about it.

Thanks for that informative lesson Dr. Beaker...

lmao. wtf?

I doubt its possible but i think it would be even cooler to cut an oval right out of the side skirt and have the tip come through.

Well that is what I was talking about doing. The only issue is that the bottom of the sideskirt is dead even with the pinch weld that runs all the way up under the car on the side. You would have to cut an oval out of the sideskirt and the pinch weld to get that affect. Just wondering if that would cause any structural problems? If not I am doing it.

lol actually having a shorter exhaust thats just as open as a longer exhaust would be more beneficial... having a dup pipe coming straight of the engine and towards the ground would even more beneficial...its got nothing to to w/ carrying it away from the engine bay when it comes to performance...

Ohh ok, my bad I thought you just meant you were going to cut like an edging out rather than a whole opening. If you can make it work there really isnt going to be any harm in notching a section of the pinch weld.

Not so much on an NA motor, but on any car with an intercooler, yeah it would.

Think about all the hot exhaust gases being released into the engine compartment, I mean, I know the msp's are hot under the hood in the first place, but then to just let the exhaust out right out of the turbo...no thanks

it's only a 45degree bend and thats it!!!!

maybe with a big enough turbo you could create enough thrust for some lift(laugh)

yes srt's have side exit but thats an srt this isnt an srt its a msp so who cares if srt's have it no one really has a msp with side exit thats what makes it sick and it's functional!

It looks OK but the sickest looking one was a sedan on here that had the duals out the back. This one will piss off whoever sits in the back seat on that side & burns the **** out of their leg getting out of the car.

I am glad you're so enthuiastical about it, that's what is important, even if it isn't your car. But,
plenty of people have done this before. there is a guy here with a titanium, just like that, used the oval tip too, as well as Shadow102's Spicy, but he used a slashed tip and some steel heat shielding. Xelderex has had a glassback side exit exhaust on his P5 for as long as I can remember as well. It certainly isn't a new concept for the protege. I remember another guy started a thread about this thing about half a year ago. You want loud, sit in my car with the cutout open which is only with about two and a half feet of pipe, and I can close it if I don't want to be loud.

Somebody else mentioned having a turn down right off the turbo, when my spipe sheared in half I only had about three inches of pipe, just enough to point the exhaust downwards. It sounded badass, but melted my turbo oil return and the splashgaurd on that side. And that was only from driving it home after that happened.

Let me guess it was a corksport s-pipe that sheared at the welds?
