Shuffle Mode Behavior?

Can anyone else confirm what I'm seeing on my 2014 CX5 GT?

I fire up the stereo and once the iPod loads, it starts playing. I push 'shuffle' and then 'next track'. In my opinion, this SHOULD have the result of picking a random track. Hence shuffle. But so far every time, it sequences the songs in the exact same order! What kind of a shuffle mode is that? Since the thing doesn't resume playback, REALLY defeats the purpose.

Just making sure everyone's is acting that way. Ridiculous if so.

Thanks. But. THe first thread you linked too is MINE, and this is not what I'm talking about, nor is the second thread.

I'm saying after starting, and pushing shuffle, and then pushing next, the radio ALWAYS cycles through the same songs in the same order. So it's not actually 'shuffling'

Example, I start the stereo, push shuffle, and then 'next' through a bunch of songs. The 'next' song should always be random. What I'm finding is that it always plays the exact same sequence. They are 'shuffled' but not at all random.

So every time I try and shuffle, I get (for example) songs 24, 1256, 742, 18, 198, etc.... Next time I start the car, it starts playback on the first song (which is what you linked to and what I'm aware of). But each time someone engages shuffle it should be randomly choosing tracks, not the same sequence of songs again that I just listened to LAST time. And the time before. And the time before. It completely undermines the whole idea of shuffle!

In fact shuffle is just acting like a playlist, it plays the same songs over and over and over everytime I start.

Oh I see, sorry, that second thread is the same. Nevermind, appears it's not possible.

This is the worst car stereo I've ever had :(

Mogambi, add it to your list for the BBB. Since I've replaced the head unit I almost forgot about this one. As I stated in the other thread, the only way to get some semblance of a 'shuffle' is to move forward a random number of songs each time before shuffle is activated. As least that way you will get a different set of non-random songs.

Will definitely add to the list. It continues to boggle my mind just how 'botched' this stereo is. It's my big project for the weekend, to get started on the BBB complaint and get someone at Mazda to actually talk to me!

nothing wrong with the stereo, try an android device, everything will work perfectly. I bought a $200 tablet and solved all my iProblems.

That statement was beyond idiotic.

Really?? I'm getting really sick of the way people talk on this forum, I've posted a couple remarks and have gotten total rude answers back. I simply stated that an Android device works fine with the radio whereas Apple does not, so IN MY OPINION there is nothing wrong with the radio, what is idiotic about that??? I am feeling very welcome here... NOT

There are hundreds of posts saying what is wrong with the unit. I'm glad you found a workaround that works for you, but that in no way means that there is 'nothing wrong with the stereo'.
